What to Expect
Within a small area, Rio performs with piano, guitar, bass and voice to prerecorded American-style music. A mixture of fast and slow, standards and originals energize the audience. Original video plays alongside Rio that further enhances each song. Appropriate imagery on video enhance the entertainment. One entertainer and one speaker system designed to equally reach both those sitting and standing help keep the staging simple
About
Rio is the stage name of Michael McFarland. Michael grew up in NE Ohio and received 2 bachelor degrees from Kent State University. While working in advertising, Michael teamed up with two musicians forming the blues group Blue Light Special, playing local gigs. Shifting to marriage and raising two children, Michael created fine art for corporations and VA Hospitals and is currently getting back to music entertainment. He raises funds for VA hospital murals and all tip money goes towards the purchase of VA artwork. "I want to give back to those who gave so much through positive artwork," says Michael.
Michael began piano in 1980 after his freshman year at Kent State University. Guitar and bass followed a few years later.
