I started playing music professionally after retiring out of the Army with almost 20yrs of service. I play with a Grammy Award winning Zydeco band (Buckwheat Zydeco) and I've been all over the world playing music. In 2019 I was even featured on Queen Sugar !
I mostly describe myself as a "cover" artist. I use professional backing tracks, with my own sax effects to create the perfect smooth jazz ambiance. I cover nearly every genre, and I have had monumental success doing this. I also have a 3-piece band for larger engagements from Houston to New Orleans or Lake Charles to Lafayette, LA. No event is too large or too small; all I need to know is what you as the client need!
Saw you perform previously and did not know that you would go on to win a Grammy award! We always knew that you would hit the big time but now the rest of the world knows that J towns finest is also one of the finest musicians in the world. Congratulations!
Not only an EXCELLENT musician but a charming and delightful human as well. We booked Saxy for a private party and it was a delightful experience. Truly worth every dime :)
Response from Rob Saxy:
Thank You Soooo Much !!! I Love What I Do....🎷🐈

I am a saxophonist but also an entertainer! With playing multiple venues a week, I've learned how to read my audience and envoke participation and a personable experience. My goal at the end of every performance is to have someone who tells a friend or potential client about how I did something on sax that they never experienced.

For "solo" performances my requirements are minimal. Quotes given include equipment, set up and tear down. If there is an engagement where I am traveling several states over or flying into a venue. The client is expected to obtain and have technical support as to where I can basically "Plug & Play" upon arrival.
I typically use Bose towers and mixers for sound generation. They are efficient, professional in appearance and very easy to set up and tear down; with minimal time and effort. So, on average the main thing I require is proximity to a 110 outlet. I will make the magic occur after that !
I do almost 300 songs, to include every genre. Before booking an engagement or playing at an establishment; I obtain all the details of the audience. In doing so, I can survey those demographics and catch every ear in my audience. I do provide a Wedding Song List as a guide for my potential brides. I will make concessions to learn a "key" song for the bride's march or presentation of gifts. However, fees may vary if I am required to learn an entire ceremony of songs for a wedding. I love to make events as such personable, but my schedule is very demanding. I average 15 to 20 gigs a month. My time is very valuable on and off the clock.
Sample Set List:
1. Adele - Easy On Me
2. Journey - Open Arms
3. Chris Stapleton - Tennessee Whiskey
4. Michael Jackson - P.Y.T
5. Sam Smith - Stay With Me
6. Otis Redding - Dock Of The Bay
7. Al Green - Let's Stay Together
8. Cindi Lauper - Time After Time
9. Tevin Campbell - Can We Talk
10. Elvis - Can't Help Falling In Love With You
11. Bruno Mars & Anderson Paak - Leave The Door Open
While I respect the jazz standards and pioneers of jazz from Chicago to New Orleans; this is not my focus of style. Yes, I do jazz standards occasionally, but I am a smooth jazz artist. I consider my style to be more like Kirk Whalum, Dave Koz, Richard Elliot and Euge Groove. I love what these guys are doing and with that style preference I can emulate the type of music that I love to play. It makes it so much easier to pour my soul into what I'm playing if I can relate and feel the music..... Period !
This will be gig specific. Tangibles will be discussed as per a solo act or an engagement with the band. Generally, we provide our own equipment.
