"Magic for the Intelligent Mind"
Robaire's genre of magic is known as "mentalism" (sleight of mind vs. sleight of hand).
For over 12 years Robaire has wowed audiences in Las Vegas, New York, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. He and the lovely Katrina bring a warm, captivating performance that fuses reality and illusion into a unique entertainment experience that will leave you believing in "magic" all over again. It is elegant, engaging and theatrical; mesmerizing, mystifying and memorable. In a word, magical! An evening your guests will remember long after.
Book your corporate event or private party with Robaire and discover for yourself what "magic for the intelligent mind" is all about!
“ Robaire came to our Christmas party and dazzled us with his many talents, and was extremely entertaining. He left us scratching our heads in wonderment!”
Robaire had been a friend and colleague for a long time. Over supper one night, he asked if I would like to see something interesting. He proceeded to perform several activities that he called "mentalism". I've always enjoyed sleight of hand, but this was much more. I actually found it hard to sleep that night, working through what he did and wondering how it was possible.
We asked Robaire to perform at our wedding reception in front of about 50 people, our closest friends and family. He truly is a terrific showman, and held the audience in the palm of his hand. His repertoire has grown, and if you want to experience a true sense of wonder and amazement, I strongly recommend Robaire and "State of Mind".

Response from Robaire's 'State of Mind':
Bob, thank you for the review. It was truly an honour for me to perform at your wedding reception. Wedding receptions are warm, intimate affairs for family and friends. To say I was humbled by the invitation is no exaggeration. Thanks again.
As a conference and event planner, I am constantly looking for ways to raise the standard of my clients’ events—meeting room layout and décor that sets them apart from other events, greater audio-visual excitement and entertainment that is added to the gala dinner to make it a standout experience. That is where Robaire and State of Mind comes into play.
I work to ensure that my clients have an experience that fits the event. Over several years, I was able to see parts of State of Mind and the complete presentation. Consequently, a year ago, I directed a client to the State of Mind website. The reaction—let’s meet Robaire and discuss.
The day after the conference dinner and State of Mind, the conversation was what I had expected—State of Mind.
I look forward to having the opportunity to recommend Robaire and State of Mind to other clients. Robaire is not just good, he is very good – a great evening’s entertainment. Cheers Robaire.
Response from Robaire's 'State of Mind':
David, thank you for this kind review. And for the great work you do organizing these events. They take a great deal of effort. And your experience shines through. Thanks again. Robaire
I have seen Robaire perform twice, and both times were amazing! The entire audience was captivated, the performance was so well executed... Flawless and entertaining.
“I hired Robert's State of Mind to perform for my staff on two occasions. Both times were spectacular! We were amazed to watch at what seemed impossible … yet it happened right in front of us! I highly recommend State of Mind for a memorable experience.”
Response from Robaire's 'State of Mind':
Thank you, Mike. I enjoyed performing for your crew on both occasions. They're smart; they're curious; and they were fully engaged in exploring the unknown with me. It was great fun all around. Thanks again. Robaire

Your audience can expect an evening they will remember fondly for a very long time after the event is done and everyone has gone home.
As an organizer and event planner you want to ensure your client, your guests and attendees leave the event feeling like "Wow, this was an event worth attending... this was an evening worth remembering. I am so happy I came". This is the kind of experience Robaire brings to your guests. But don't take our word for it. Here is a recent Review by David R. Dunlop, a leading international conference and event planner:

David Dunlop understands what it takes to organize large conferences and corporate events. He has been doing this internationally since 1987 (for over 30 years).
So what makes Robaire's "State of Mind" so different from other magical acts and performances?
To begin, Robaire is a mentalist. Mentalism is more about sleight of mind than sleight of hand. It is, in a word, creating a most believable illusion of mind reading. His goal is to so impress your guests with the quality of magic they experience that not only will they leave your event, function or party totally mystified and thrilled at what they have just experienced, but with enduring memories of a very special evening that they will carry with them long after the evening is over.
Secondly, his tagline is "Magic for the Intelligent Mind". Robaire’s unique and entertaining performances are designed to deliver a thought-provoking experience that goes well beyond superficial and predictable illusions. By framing elements of his performance within historical, philosophical and scientific narratives, he dares his audience to follow him beyond the boundaries of perceived reality—enchanting his audiences with the mysterious wonder of mentalism and magic.
Thirdly, because of the nature and focus of his performance, Robaire fits well into any audience, including, and in particular, respectable and discerning corporate and conference audiences who may be a wee bit skeptical about this genre of entertainment but who, after seeing a number of highly accomplished mentalists and magicians on "America's Got Talent", are both curious and willing to give this kind of show a try.
And then there's Katrina. In 2016, the lovely Katrina joined Robaire on stage and became an integral part of the “State of Mind” experience. Katrina brings a touch of warmth, elegance and mystery to the performance that sets the show apart from and above the rest. Together, Robaire and Katrina create a magical experience for all guests… one they will never forget.

Magic for the Intelligent Mind
Robaire spent three years developing and perfecting his skills as a mentalist under the radar before he began performing impromptu shows for small groups of family and friends. On June 19, 2010, he made his first public appearance with: “State of Mind: A Night of Mentalism and Magic with Robaire.” The show was a resounding success.
Since then, Robaire has emerged as a sought-after mentalist and magician for public, corporate and private events, including performances at "The Olive" off the strip in Las Vegas; the Ontario Community Colleges Administrative Awards Dinner at Algonquin College (Ottawa); a graduation celebration aboard a hired cruise boat for the Tom Todoroff Conservatory of Fine Arts in Manhattan, New York; the Children’s Wish Foundation Fundraising Event, Centurian Conference & Event Centre in Ottawa, Canada, and much more.
Robaire’s unique and entertaining performances are designed to deliver a thought-provoking experience that goes well beyond superficial and predictable illusions. By framing elements of his performance within historical, philosophical and scientific contexts, he dares his audience to follow him beyond the boundaries of perceived reality—enchanting his audiences with the mysterious wonder of mentalism and magic.
Robaire is a past member of The Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood, California, and the Canadian Association of Magicians.
When not delighting audiences, Robaire is a lawyer and partner in a prominent law firm in Ottawa and Halifax, Canada. For the past 20 years, one of his passions beyond law and magic has included studying Western intellectual history. He is currently writing a book about Galileo.
Robaire requires very little in the form of stage preparation or set up as his magic focuses on images within the human mind. Whereas most magicians rely to a large degree on props, staging and sleight of hand to create their illusions (many of which are highly skilled and entertaining, to be sure), Robaire relies almost exclusively on sleight of mind.
All Robaire requires is a quality A/V sound system and wireless microphone, one small table and four chairs, a whiteboard and, ideally, a 14' x 18' performance area. This can be stage or parlour. Robaire furnishes all of these, but may require a local technician to connect the microphone into the venue's sound system. (Robaire can also bring his own technician, at an added cost.)
Robaire's act is reminiscent of that of "Kreskin" who, from 1970 to 1975, headlined the television series "The Amazing World of Kreskin", broadcast throughout Canada on CTV. The series was produced in Ottawa, Ontario (where Robaire is currently headquartered) at the CJOH-TV studios. He appeared on "The Tonight Show" 61 times from 1970 to 1980. In the 1980s and 90s, he came to prominence again through several appearances on "Late Night with David Letterman" and on "The Howard Stern Show". In 2009 he became the first guest to make three appearances on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon".
Yet, as much as Robaire's mentalism is reminiscent of Kreskin (for older audiences), Robaire's true influences are Derren Brown, David Berglas and Richard Osterlind.
