HUCK FLYN-COMEDY BIO
Huck Flyn was born in Evanston, Illinois, on the north side of Chicago…early on, his family moved to southern California. Flyn started playing guitar at age 11 and did his first gig at age 13. He was part of a few bands in high school and graduated from Thousand Oaks high. He went on to Moorpark College and graduated from L.A. Valley College with an AA degree in journalism. He then was offered a scholarship to Pepperdine University.
In 1973, Huck met up with actor/director/choreographer, Kenny Ortega (High school Musical I, II, III, This is it, Dirty Dancing, This is it) and together they wrote the script and soundtrack to Ortega's brain child, "Bimbo's Cosmic Circus," an off-Broadway Rock musical about a clown in a circus who wanted to be a rock star. They performed it at the Starwood in in Hollywood, and at The Off-Broadway theatre in San Diego.
After the play closed, Flyn formed a band and rocked in his hometown of Thousand Oaks, five nights a week. In 1977, while attending a hockey game, he met and became friends with Chuck Barris. He wound up doing several Gong Shows and a Dating Game. In 1985 Huck Flyn, joined the "Otis Day and the Knights" tour in New York in which Dewayne Jesse reprised his "ANIMAL HOUSE" role on the road.
He performed on Knots Landing in 1987 and shortly after, while visiting a comedy club in the Bay area, he ran into a couple old friends, Marty Cohen, and Bruce Baum, and together with people like Vic Dunlop, the unknown comic, Bill Engvall, Henry Cho and others, he got to do guest sets at clubs around the area...he became a regular on the comedy circuit and the crowds immediately took to him. He started working all over the country. He performed at places like the Punch Line, The Comedy Underground, the Riviera Hotel in Vegas and other clubs and colleges all across the USA.
