Musicians
Tom DeVito (lead vocals, rhythm guitar). Originally from New York, Tom has roots in the acoustic and harmonic sounds of the 60's and 70's. He was a founding member of the band BACKFENCE. His smooth vocals and acoustic guitar work highlight the more mellow music and those songs requiring a wide vocal range and defined voice.
Bill Erchul (bass, vocals) has played guitar, bass, and steel guitar with many different artists over the past 50+ years. Starting out in blues, rock, and country bands while in his native Wisconsin, he later branched out to bluegrass, klezmer, cajun/zydeco, and jazz genres as he made his way to Texas, California, Arizona, and North Carolina. In Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven, Bill returns to his first love, the electric bass, and holds down the low end on their renditions of rock classics.
Dave Spencer (guitar, vocals) started playing harmonica at 5 years old, which led to singing duets with his brother and playing Beatles and Bob Dylan songs on the ukulele. He played clarinet and guitar while in high school and studied Beethoven and Mozart while in College. After playing gigs around Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh he expanded to the Eastern Seaboard. Dave graduated with a BA in music and moved to New Orleans, where he performed at the Old Opera House.
Jim Laing (keyboards, vocals) is originally from the Boston, MA area, and has been in North Carolina about 30 years. Jim has performed for over 40 years in several classic rock and "Top 40" bands in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. Jim enjoys playing a wide variety of musical styles and genres, and also has a keen interest in pipe organ.
Chris Jones (drums) had a father who loved Gene Krupa and other big band drummers. He gave Chris toy drums when he was a toddler, and real drums when he was 9. Chris was a founding member of Glass Moon, a successful recording and touring progressive rock act that charted in the Billboard Top 100.
