I have a huge library to be able to take live requests, but it helps to have your musical preferences in advance to better prepare. My library consists of over 50,000 songs in every genre from 1940 to 2014. I download all my music legally or digitize it from vinyl or CDs. The MP3s are encoded at 320 kbps, the highest quality setting.
Some cheap DJs pirate music illegally off the internet, resulting in low quality MP3 files (192 kbps or worse) that sound poor in comparison, and your guests will be able to hear the difference!
Classic rock such as the Beatles and Pink Floyd, classic dub and roots reggae such as Roots Radics, King Tubby and Scientist, old school funk and soul including James Brown, Parliament, Funkadelic, Gap Band. Also classic hip hop such as Snoop Dogg and A Tribe Called Quest, and classic house such as Carl Cox and Frankie Knuckles.
