Hands down THE BEST live band we have ever heard.
The Runaway Ostrich team are PHENOMENAL performers and made our celebration incredibly special. Everything from customer service, responsiveness, performance, and timeliness are top notch. Susan and her team put together a seamless performance when it was a last minute ask. They even took into consideration a song that I’d requested a couple of days before our event and words cannot express how meaningful that was for my partner and I. Each member of this group is talented, gifted, and will light up your event. We loved their presence and performance so much that we are considering hiring them for many more future events.
Do NOT hesitate to book! You will have some of the best memories with this group. 1000/10 recommend!!
Susan and her team provided an ultimate experience for my guests at our event! Their music really provided an atmosphere of happiness and community. We will most definitely use them in our rotation going forward.

Runaway Ostrich will require a 1 to 2 hour setup time (depending on travel/distance) before the show.
If the set is longer than 1 hour we may request a 15 or 30 minute break depending on the length of the set/event.
We cover a variety of genres and artists with mostly easy listening songs and smooth grooves that will make your guests sway. If you'd like us to play a special song or have music requests, please book in advance so that we may rehearse material in a timely fashion.
Our trio consists of a singer, guitar (electric and/or acoustic), and bass/drum player who alternates between the two instruments. The drum kit is small and will be used delicately.
We also offer additional instruments such as piano, trombone, and trumpet per request. For an additional cost, these musicians are on standby and must be requested at least a month in advance to make sure they are availble for your event.
Runaway Ostrich consists of three talented members being Susan Leyva, Henry Paul, and Marcus Riley. They all grew up with a unique talent and similar experiences of feeling away from the crowd, "not fitting in," or ostracized (wink wink). Music was the escape and the haven that they ran to for their own sense of community and viola! Runaway Ostrich was born. A group that merges art, creativity, and inclusiveness to inspire all those who listen and dance along with the music. From jazz and pop to soul and R&B, they cover it all with a fresh new twist.
