I pride myself on preparedness, versatility, and most importantly, professionalism.
Having studied trumpet for fifteen years, I have performed as an award-winning classical soloist, orchestral player, and chamber musician. Outside of the classical realm I have experience with jazz trumpet and have been involved with musical theater performance (both onstage and in the pit).

A strong proponent of creative collaboration, Sabrina Johnson continues to initiate and participate in projects that combine her musical talents with those of literary, visual, and theatrical artists. She is currently coproducing separate audio visual works with New York-based poet Jesse Patrick and Irish artist Ciana Fitzgerald.
Sabrina is a classically-trained trumpet player and has been performing professionally since 2014, when she played Johann Baptist Georg Neruda’s Concerto for Trumpet in E-flat Major as a soloist with the Orchestra of Northern New York at the age of 17. In 2018 she received a Bachelors degree in Music Performance from the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam, where she had studied with James Madeja. Sabrina was a student of famed trumpet soloist Joe Burgstaller from 2018 to 2020, studying with him at both the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University as well as the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. In 2020 she received her Masters degree in Music Performance from Arizona State University.
In terms of classical performance, Sabrina has been a section member of the Northern Symphonic Winds and the Orchestra of Northern New York as well as a substitute in the Potsdam Faculty Brass Quintet. She is also a former member of the Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet. Sabrina has performed in master classes and taken lessons with the likes of David Krauss, David Bilger, Barbara Butler, Eric Aubier, Joe Alessi, Manon Lafrance, and the members of both Canadian Brass and Boston Brass.
Taking full advantage of the local music scenes throughout her travels, Sabrina has developed an affinity for musical theater in her freelance career. She has performed with several professional and youth theaters, including the 2015 Broadway tour production of Chicago as part of the Community Performance Series at SUNY Potsdam, the Actor’s Youth Theatre production of Pippin in 2019, and ZAO Theatre’s production of Seussical in 2020.
Sabrina Johnson currently freelances in and around Phoenix, Arizona. She continues to build on her several years of accumulated private teaching experience through her own private studio. Sabrina aims to inspire her students to recognize their potential as creators - not just of music, but of their own successes as well.
