Sarah Leon - Pianist

As a multi-genre performer, I can accommodate almost any request with enough time to practice. There are also many pieces I can play on-demand, largely from the genres of pop, soundtrack/score, rock, and Christian contemporary (songs you might hear on Christian radio).
I also have the ability to transpose and arrange, as well as play from sheet music, chord charts, and by ear.
I can fade into the background, providing a gentle, soothing ambiance for your event, or I can be a lively and bubbly entertainer, taking requests from guests and accompanying them as they sing their favorites.
I am an excellent collaborator and can work smoothly and seamlessly with other performers as needed.

Throughout childhood, music was always the centerpiece of my life. I've loved theater ever since I can remember, and one of my favorite pastimes was creating short pieces to perform with family and friends. At the age of 7, I was first introduced to the basics of piano, and at age 10 I began taking lessons officially and became involved in my church's theater program.

The next several years would be spent learning music, performing in choirs, and gaining experience with our local theater community as both an ensemble member onstage and as a pianist and keyboardist. After moving to a new city, I became a music teacher at a small family-owned performing arts studio that grew to be a second home for the following 4 years. Primarily, I was a private piano instructor; I also had the privilege of directing vocals for 2 youth musicals, as well as teaching a few semesters of beginner choir and early music classes.

Over the last 15+ years, I have cultivated my love for music by composing and improvising original pieces. Additionally, I enjoy creating arrangements and mashups of existing pieces, experimenting with sounds, chords, and musical textures. This urge to explore is also reflected in my eclectic taste, which ranges from film soundtracks to parodies to metal to pop to...pretty much everything.

I foresee performance and collaboration in my future as a musician. Some of my favorite experiences have been related to accompaniment and ensemble playing, such as Sunday mornings with my church's worship band as well as regular jam sessions with my family, who also sing and play a variety of instruments.

I will use the sound system and power source provided by the venue.
I can perform on any full-length keyboard or piano, with a bench and music stand/rest, provided by the venue. If one is not provided, I can bring my own digital piano keyboard with the necessary accessories.
