We are a fun group of gals who will sing for as long as you will let us. We have sets for 20 minutes or up to an hour.
In between songs we can tell a short story or joke, but spend most of the time doing what we love best....singing four part harmony.
Four fun-seeking women who love to sing, got together in early 2006 and formed Sashay, a quartet registered with Sweet Adelines International. Singing 4-part a cappella harmony, this entertaining foursome includes: Sandy Scarbrough, tenor; Deb Densmore, lead; Marie Koltvedt, baritone; and Jill Watson, bass. Deb and Marie are also members of The Grand Traverse Show Chorus, a 4-part a cappella group of 38 women. Jill is the master director of the chorus.
According to this foursome, “We are all in it for the fun and glory of singing – it’s good for the soul and always puts a smile on our faces and the faces of those we sing to.” Sashay regularly performs year-round in their entertaining style. Holiday parties, birthday celebrations, corporate luncheons, and other events keep these ladies busy doing what they love to do. One of the most popular days of the year is Valentine’s Day – where Sashay delivers singing valentines to unsuspecting loved ones around the community. Restaurants, offices, homes, retail stores – you name it, a singing valentine has probably been delieverd there by this talented group of women.
A highlight of their year, is competing each spring in the Sweet Adeline’s regional competition that takes place in Dearborn, MI. They consistently place in the top 5 in Region II, which encompasses western and southeastern Michigan along with
eastern Ontario. Currently they are proud to be the Silver Medal winners for 2016.
The regional winners go on to the International Competition held each fall. It’s the “Olympics” of the women’s four-part harmony world.
Sashay would be honored and thrilled to perform for your event.
