Sassafras is based in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Sassafras is a bluegrass band who pays homage to the Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs era, but also enjoys pushing the edge of progressive Newgrass music as well. Their repertoire includes a range of musical styles including ole-time, country, folk, western swing and originals. Sassafras band members have performed the festivals: Merlefest, Walnut Valley, Riverhawk, Red White & Bluegrass, Albino Skunk, Bass Mountain, Denton, High Mountain Bluegrass, AGEC Bluegrass (Paris, France), Ironbridge (England), Hamishes' Hoose (Paisley, Scotland), Güglinger Bluegrass (Germany) to name a few.
The band was absolutely amazing! They created a delightful atmosphere for the entire family, sharing interesting tidbits, folding in some appropriate jokes between songs, and performing music that resonated with everyone's taste. The birthday person of honor said the music was a bullseye and reminded them of when they were a kid. For our event the band absolutely was instrumental in making everyone in attendance walk away with a wonderful life memory thet they will cherish always. Thank you to the band - exceeded expectations, would highly recommend!
