Overview
Professional saxophonist for almost any occasion. I will come with my own sound equipment, mics, etc. I play a variety of music from R&B, smooth jazz, jazz-funk, blues, and gospel. I have over 20 years of experience playing at all kinds of events. Always punctual, humble, and very hard-working individual that loves music.

I knew I wanted a live musician to enhance the DJ at our wedding reception and Kelvin was the perfect guy for the job. He is incredibly talented and joined in on whatever song came on. I was amazed every time he started playing. He played beautifully throughout our dinner service and interacted with guests on the dance floor. Everybody absolutely adored him. I could not thank Kelvin enough for making our reception so memorable.

I hired Kelvin to play for my wedding. We agreed he would play for the wedding parties entrance into the ceremony, during cocktail hour and for our first dance. He sounded absolutely amazing during the ceremony. We were running about an hour behind schedule and for the most part got rid of the cocktail hour to catch up for time. When it was time for me and my husband to do our first dance, Kelvin had left the event altogether directly after the ceremony without telling the coordinator. My issue with Kelvin was communication. He does a beautiful job but I wished he would have communicated more effectively because we ended up not having an official first dance and I was pretty upset.

First of all thank you for booking me for your wedding I greatly appreciate the opportunity to play for your special day. Secondly im a very disappointed to read this review although you mentioned the wedding started late, the wedding started more than an hour late. There was no communication between me and your wedding coordinator on when the wedding was going to start. You booked me from 5pm-7pm and the wedding started after 6pm. I was there on time ready to play before 5pm. When I asked when the wedding would start no one could give me an answer. Due to lack of seating I stood there for over an hour outside might i add waiting. I even played some music while the guests were waiting just to keep the ambiance. When the wedding did start around 6:20 I played the song you requested and I even offered for you all to use my saxophone mic so everyone could hear your vows, because the DJ refused to let you use his mic because he wasn’t suppose to do anything until 7pm. Unfortunately the battery in my mic died. Wedding concluded around 6:45 and i even played the music for you and the bridal party to walk out or else it would have been silence. By the time everything was over it was 6:50. Again I remind you, you booked me until 7pm. I had another event to get to that started at 7:30pm. So i had to pack my things around the wedding guests and DJ booth because there was barely any room to walk. You left to take pictures and I did not have time to talk to the wedding coordinator eventhough i did look for her while i was walking out. I’ve never had any issues with any of my clients. One thing i stand on is professionalism and I feel I have not done anything wrong to receive this review. While I understand things happen you booked me until 7pm anything after that would have been extra fee and I would have mentioned that if i could have stayed. I’m glad i was able to atleast play you down the aisle but please remember when booking a vendor you have to be respectful of our time.
Kelvin was very professional and patient throughout the booking process. On the day of the event, Kelvin arrived on time and with his personal amp, which was great because the venue was experiencing a few audio issues. He played a variety of music. I highly recommend Kelvin Evans.

Kelvin was amazing on our wedding day! He is so easy to work with and very sweet. Kelvin came to our venue and played through cocktail hour and reception entrance. We loved hearing the beautiful sax echo through the venue while we got ready and did our first looks. Everyone loved his performances just as much as we did. Kelvins sax performances were one of our favorite parts of our day :)
We even got our own special entrance into reception and a little sax solo to play us into our first dance! Kelvin really went above and beyond with all our requests and it made our day even more special than we hoped!

What to Expect
High energy performance and a great time! I love to play and try to demonstrate that with everything I do. I enjoy myself but most importantly I want my audience to enjoy themselves as well. You can send out a playlist of songs you like or we can go with mine.
About
A man who knows no limit when it comes to playing the saxophone and his name is Kelvin Evans. The 36-year-old saxophonist from Marion, Alabama has listened to his share of music and experienced a taste of pretty much every music genre out there. An up-and-coming saxophonist who loves his music almost as much as people love his BBQ. His style and sound are unique and even though he wants to be his own self he still credits such artists as Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Najee, John Coltrane, and Grover Washington Jr. as his greatest influence. In his own words, he says "I want people to feel every note I play that's why I play with so much passion" and his audience really appreciates the fact he is so humble and down to earth. A Military brat Kelvin has traveled all around the U.S. and has been blessed to play with so many different musicians and singers and be able to adapt. Kelvin's love for music started at a very young age by listening to his uncle and father's records while in elementary school the music teacher approached him and said: "you have big hands you should play the saxophone" and the rest was history. Kelvin is willing to work with any and everyone and is always more than willing to work with the youth who are starting out in music. "People come up to me all the time and say "hey i use to play that instrument in middle school or high school" and I say so what happened and most people say "Oh I lost interest" so he wants to keep young kids into music because it's such a beautiful and unique thing". Kelvin now resides in Saint Louis, MO where he and his crew The All-Purpose Band often play around town. An awesome musician with beautiful talent that you do not want to miss.
