Live HipHop, minus the misogyny and materialism. Khaiim the RapOet lectures on Edutainment (making education fun and using entertainment to teach) at Trinity, Yale, and other colleges. Yet his fans tend to catch him leaping off stages, performing globally with everyone from Pulitzer Prize poets like Alice Walker to Grammy winning MCs like Common.
HipHop heads know him as Self Suffice, the charismatic crowd surfer whose album with J Cole's engineer Mez summited the Indie Hip-Hop Top 40. His positive use of rap music has been recognized by Obama's Champions of Change, the NY Times, NPR, and others. See his live band at a college near you, performing the new album "Self Control".

Each show is customized based on the client's location, equipment, and other needs. We can bring equipment, when not available. Ideally though, the client provides at least 2 wireless microphones, 2 microphone stands, speakers and a sound system with at least 4 inputs (xlr, 1/4", 1/8", or rca). Again, we are happy to bring whatever equipment is not available as long as we know in advance.
Each Set is customized based on the hosts schedule, duration, demographics, and requests. For example, songs and activities may include keynote speech, dance section, spoken word, freestyle rap section, creativity workshop, more lighthearted, or deeper introspective lyrics. By default each of these elements will be touched on, starting with a poem dedicated to those who've passed on, and closing with a positive message call & response for the audience.
Common, Talib Kweli, Yasiin Bey, Mos Def, KRS ONE, Abiodun Oyewole, the Last Poets, Gil Scott-Heron, Alice Walker, Jessica Care Moore, Saul Williams, J Cole
