A performance is all about the connect that the audience member has with the performer. I strive for a sense of unity and unconditional love through my performances. I believe through love, anything is possible. In my experience as a performer, many people have enjoyed my performances for the high energy, creative executions, and unique fashion sense. Senerio Baptiste (Born Jamal Kerby Jean Baptiste, July 17 1992) is an American Singer-Songwriter and Producer, Actor, and Performance Artist. Art began for Baptiste through poetry before anything else. Surrendering to the art of sound, Baptiste and his poetry soon evolved into melodies. At the age of 11, writing music became such an obsession. Everytime he'd write a new song, Baptiste would call onto his friends and sing to them. During his adolescent years, writing became more of a daily practice. Baptiste would secretly hum melodies under his breathe, writing versus during classes.
Embracing the art of Love, he began to blossom into a new evolution of existence. Enter Simulation: EDEN. Through EDEN, Baptiste has made the conscious effort to face demons within himself in order to find peace. He relies on his music to dig into much deeper realms of awareness, thus discovering his chakras. Through self love and concentration, Baptiste is determined to find where unconditional love lies. Other than music, Baptiste began to master new methods of performance art that have successfully represented his image. He is highly recognized for his dramatic-theatrical performances, blood-oozing symbolisms, and his wearable art pieces. Aside from writing, Baptiste considers The Fine Arts to be his second lover. "I'm in a polygomous relationship between Music and Theatre" Baptiste claims. Performing on stage was where theatre began to have a huge impact on his artistic craft. The Fine Arts became a mask that was much needed. Theatre provided solitude, where he was able to analyze his presence, in correspondence to the rhythm of the world. I am, I am, I am he says to himself. He begins to fall into a deep transition. Standing where compression and rarefaction meet, he generates vibrations to make a public disturbance. Standing outside of the box, he discovers that there is a new box we are in. What else can a human do, other than to step outside of the new box? Art is not easy. Art should not be considered easy. Art is uncomfortable to explain. Because how can we really understand the meaning of our expressions.
After releasing 8-track EP, Red Carpet Ready (February 2010), Senerio has successfully teamed up with many other artist. The closest to him would be Draydel (Born Daniel Sado), Engineer & Personal Manager. Draydel has been working along side Senerio since early 2010. Both, Senerio and Draydel, consider eachother to be their creative influences in the music industry. Senerio dedicates most of his success to Draydel's support. One of Baptiste's most unforgettable performances was the Rock The Beach Festival, hosted by Sam Ash, Critical Recordings, and The Mayor of Sunny Isles. This opportunity would not have rose to the occasion, had it not been for Draydel's management. Baptiste captivated his audience by pouring a bucket of blood over himself. Clarifying his stunt, Baptiste stated "It was the symbolism of pain, self inflicting and onto others". Currently, Draydel and Senerio are working on the finishing touches of Senerio's LP, EDEN. Prior to the release of EDEN, Senerio has collaborated with a few engineers, such as DJ Smack, 24, and Marcos Cassasa.
Baptiste has been keeping busy, outside of his personal projects. He currently resides in Brooklyn NY, where he takes on many promising endeavors. Currently, Baptiste is a songwriter for Long Island Musician/Entrepreneur, Corvaa & Brooklyn Musician, Olivia Castriota. Baptiste works with Producer/Manager Mark J, who manages Corvaa. Baptiste has also teamed up with Marcos Cassasa, connected through Scott Kjelson. Cassasa and Baptiste now are in the process of creating a new EP, after the release of EDEN. "There are alot of releases to look forward to, in 2015" Senerio states. With the help of his team, Senerio is already ahead of the game. Let him take you on a ride, where innovation comes alive. Give him your left eye, so you can see just how he looks tonight. Senerio, the representation of any insecurity at its finest. Prepare to experience a rebirth of the Maniac.
I've been highly inspired by many great performances from legendary artist that have gone before me. I think it's always essential for an artist to appreciation the past evolution of art, and to use their knowledge as a foundation to create the next best thing. I will always seek to Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Freddie Mercury as great influence for my theatrical and vulnerable performance art pieces.
