My name is Shannon Mercil. I have been a professional makeup artist for 15 years now (CRAZY how time flies). I have always had a love of makeup and all things girly as far back as I can remember. At the age of 5 I would grab my younger sister and she would become my very own living doll (occasionally it would be willingly :) ...Stephanie, I am sorry for the therapy I must have put you through!
When I turned 18 I decided to audition for a makeup position a prestigious Salon in Redmond, Washington. To be honest, I was so nervous, not wanting to take a chance, I asked a friend to be my model, a friend who happens to be gorgeous without a stitch of makeup (unfair, I know! I've seen her updates on fb and can assure you this is still the case). To be honest it didn't take much to pass that test, and here comes my first philosophy: Less is often more!
Foundation shouldn't be a mask and makeup should always be used to accentuate and not cover up beauty. I love a great Smokey eye, or a 'Retro glam' look myself but if it doesn't suit my client and her vision we won't even go there.
Makeup should always makeup a woman feel like an enhanced version of herself, not like she is wearing mask! I've never met a client that didn't have something extraordinarily beautiful or unique about them and I love to bring that out!
On with my story... After a total of 8 years working at two different salons, gaining experience in the Seattle fashion scene as well as a growing bridal reputation, I decided to branch out and start my own business {I Love Blush}. Over the years I have had the ability to work with corporate clients such a King FM, The four Seasons hotel, Jeepney clothing, and perform makeup for Miss Washington USA winners '09 &'10 Tara and Tracy Turnure & In 2010 we were humbled to be awarded 'Best makeup' through King 5's 'Best of Western Washington'. It was quite a journey!
Business was great but it eventually turned into more than I could handle as the company and my FAMILY grew. After a year or so I took on a partner and then a couple years later felt led to sign the business over to her.
Currently I am Married to the love of my life (of 10 years) and raising my 3 beautiful children Mazzy, London,and Dash. We live in the great little town of Arlington, WA. Here I hope to grow a small local business. I love the art of makeup and being able to use the creative gifts God has given me to make my clients’ look and feel their absolute best.
