I perform and teach a very diversely inspired mixture of dances. Influences include Egyptian Cabaret and Tribal style belly dance along with Hip-Hop, Soca, Burlesque, and more.
When requesting a quote please provide as much detail as possible.
1. Dance, costume, music preference, etc.
2. Do I need to provide music, player, and sound system? (I have an eclectic mix and can download specific requests if I don't have it.)
3. Will there be a stage area or will I be dancing among a crowd, tables, etc.
4. Do you want a single performance or multiple shorter performances?
5. Will there be any teaching included?

Anyone who attends one of my live performances can expect to be thoroughly entertained. I perform from the inside, out. I have worked in customer service since age eight, and I know that pride, personality, and providing the best quality product are key. I perform in the highest quality cabaret costumes with performance hair and make-up. Spectators will witness the discipline and skills I have learned over the years, along with my natural love of dance and desire to bring happiness into peoples lives.
I also offer private beginning Egyptian Cabaret style belly dance classes for anyone age 18 and up that wants to get in shape while having fun and learning a new dance style. My classes focus on building your core skills by learning proper posture and technique. As each student advances their skills, they will be taught a small choreography and ultimately a performance piece.
My name is Joylyn and I belly dance as Shaula. I started performing with Bahiyya Almas Belly Dance Company in California in 2008. I have since performed and taught in several cities and states across the U.S. It has been fun, exciting, difficult, and rewarding!!
I am available for special events, birthday parties, corporate gatherings, charity projects, bachelorette parties, private classes, and more!
I love to dance and make people smile!!!! If you book me for your event, your guests will not be disappointed.
I own several cabaret style costumes for performances along with some handmade costumes. With a minimum 24 hour notice for in state performances or two weeks for out of state, I will arrive at your event on time, ready to perform, with the required music and costume for your guests greatest satisfaction. I am available for performances anywhere in North Carolina, the U.S., or the world as long as travel is covered. :)
I have a Bluetooth speaker for outdoor events that require a higher volume which requires an electric outlet. I can bring an extension cord with advanced notice.
For music, I typically use a Bluetooth connection. However, I can also perform/instruct to any music being played.
If there are any special requirements, I am happy to discuss necessary accommodations.
Otherwise, I arrive with everything necessary to perform.

I first knew I wanted to be a belly dancer when I was eight years old. I was walking on the promenade in Ventura with my family during one of the street fairs and there she was shining and jingling with hair all the way down her back. :) It was almost 20 years before I actually took a class and I fell in love all over again. My teachers have both been performing for over 20 years and still inspire me every day and always encourage me to carry on the legacy of belly dance to inspire future generations.
