Shelby Raye is a native of Chapin, SC. Growing up on the waters of beautiful Lake Murray, the small-town lifestyle is evident in the twangy soulfulness of this pint-sized powerhouse's vocals. Never one to be put in a box, her passion for music of all genres has burned a hole in her soul which she consistently seeks to fill with new experiences and sounds.
Since she was two years old, Shelby Raye has been performing on one level or another. Her early start began with school talent shows, karaoke and small competitions in her hometown. Every opportunity to get on stage was met with great enthusiasm and resounding acclaim. Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of seven, her parents took great care to encourage her to continue to strive for her dreams and not let anything, even an incurable disease, hold her back.
At the young age of thirteen, Shelby Raye decided to pursue music as a career, and things were kicked into high gear. After sitting-in with several local musicians at live shows, she soon realized she needed to learn guitar in order to continue her pursuit. She began taking guitar and vocal lessons at Freeway Music and within a few months had enough material to play her own three-hour show. Her show-stopping good looks, combined with a sparkling personality and soaring vocals, soon began packing venues in her hometown and the lowcountry.
Winning a ReverbNation competition to be one of the opening acts for Tim McGraw and Kelsea Ballerini at The Carolina Country Music Festival in Myrtle Beach was a launching pad for the young starlet to form her first band. Things progressed quickly and the group soon found themselves opening for country music legends such as TG Sheppard and headlining local festivals across South Carolina.
Shelby Raye released her first single “Guys Don’t Get It” (Available for purchase in our store) in June of 2017. She and the band are currently touring throughout the southeast. Plans for the next single are formulating and launch date for her first EP is scheduled for early 2018.
There's seems to be no stopping this strong-willed young woman who strives to bring her unique style and quirky personality to the masses. But don’t let that pretty face fool you – this little lady knows exactly where she’s going and she won't let anything stand in her way. She has been known to say "There is no Plan B", and we believe her!

I grew up with a tremendously diverse musical background thanks my rocker Dad and country Momma. Listening to both Dolly Parton and Aerosmith growing up has blessed me with an eclectic sound. I have been compared to both Miranda Lambert and Pat Benatar on many occasions. People are most surprised to hear me break away from the country styles and do an old-fashioned R&B tune as well. I don't like being put in a box.. good music is just good music.
