Shelly played my son’s wedding. Her music was heaven sent and her kindness, thoughtful nature, eagerness to make everything perfect was obvious. If there was a 6 out of 5, she would get that score. Highly recommend.
We hired Shelley for our daughter’s blessing ceremony and she was perfect. Her music and presence are both beautiful. All of our guests commented on how perfect her performance was. I really can’t say enough, I would absolutely hire her again.
Shelley and her band were an amazing addition to our event! She was very organized and responsive as well as an amazing person and musician- would recommend to anyone and everyone in need of either an individual harpist or the band!
Shelley played for my wedding and it was beautiful! I was so busy I didn’t even get to meet her in person but everyone told me how much they loved working with her. Through my communication with her, she was super helpful and clear. She even learned a new song for me!
The music was truly beautiful and I am so happy we had her there for our event. 10/10, I seriously couldn’t recommend her more!!
Shelley was a a beutiful harpist who play wonderful backgroud music for my daughters baby shower.
Everyone loved her classic choices in music and her warm personalilty. She was dressed very classy for the event too. I give Shelley my highest reccommendation for any evernt!!!! I will be hiring her again sometime for sure!
Shelley was amazing! Upon arrival, all I had to do was show her where she would be setting up and she took it from there. She asked what type of music we wanted played and I decided to leave it up to her to play what she felt fit. Every song was great and created an environment that felt much warmer and more personal for all of our guests. I will definitely consider inquiring about Shelley's services in the future!
Beautiful sound and easy to work with.
Shelley was incredible to work with and even more incredible to listen to! She is a lovely person and meeting with her calmed any wedding nerves. She has an amazing repertoire and learned the Mii Plaza song for us as well!
One of our buses was late, so the ceremony was delayed leaving many guests waiting but everyone was thrilled to have more time listening to Shelley play. We weren't stressed at all because we knew everyone would be having a great time. We are so grateful to Shelley and her beautiful music!
Shelley’s performance was beautiful at our Grandmother’s Tea. She honored us with performing renditions of several lullabies including a special request, as well as popular contemporary songs. Thank you, Shelley! ❤️
Shelley was just incredible! She completed my wedding ceremony. It was perfection. Highly recommended! Thank you.
Shelly did an amazing job! The ceremony was perfect and they created the perfect ambiance for our wedding. It was such a pleasure to have such harmonizing sounds as we said “I do”. Highly, highly recommend!
Shelley was the cherry on top of our entire wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. The soft and elegant sound of her music really made our ceremony. I have had so many guests compliment the live music, and say what a difference it makes (compared to a DJ with speakers) when the bride is walking down the aisle. It creates this intimacy that is unmatched. I remember feeling so nervous during the ceremony, standing in front of all of our guests, but Shelley's soft harp music in the background completely grounded me, and I found myself listening to her music every time I felt nervous. After the ceremony, Shelley seamlessly began playing fun upbeat jazz music for our cocktail hour, which I found to be so much fun and really create that easy and relaxed vibe after the "I do" that we were going for. In addition to the harp just being absolutely amazing, Shelley was also so fun and easy to work with. She is one of the most centered and calm people I've ever met, and definitely a personality that I needed on my team as the big day grew closer and the stress increased. Her communication is excellent, and she has the ability to put all of the jumbled ideas into a solid plan by using her knowledge, experience, and creativity. I recommend Shelley 110%, this is definitely a service to include in your wedding; it's a small touch that makes a WORLD of difference on your big day.
It was a pleasure having Shelley play the harp during our wedding ceremony. She was easy to work with in the lead up. She was very professional. And the music on the day of the event was very good. We received compliments how beautiful the ceremony was. Shelley was great!! Loved her contribution to our wedding.
Shelley was professional to work with, wonderful to listen to and my sister even thought the music was not live.
I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful way to start our event but to have our guests listen to Shelley play.
My daughter's wedding march song was absolutely stunning . Thank you Shelley!
Shelley brought such a beautiful and magical sound to our wedding. She did not hesitate to learn a special song that we had requested to walk down the aisle to. She is incredibly communicative, talented, friendly, and professional. We are so grateful we decided to hire her to play for our wedding ceremony and our cocktail hour!!! Our guests absolutely raved about her.
What a lovely addition to our event. Shelley is delightful and super at what she does. She created a lovely atmosphere and engaged the different generations of people at the event. We would be honored to have her at our future events!
Shelley is a wonderful in all ways. Her presence, energy and talent completed our very special event. I cannot wait to collaborate with her in the future! Thank you!!
Shelley was just amazing! She was so professional to work with and fit our event perfectly. She tailored the music perfectly and her music choice was modern and spot on to what we requested. She is an extremely skilled musician and we will be contracting her again for our next event!
Shelley played at a post-funeral reception for us and was absolutely wonderful. She played beautifully, was caring and compassionate and prepared music that she thought would suit the decedent. I would hire her again without hesitation!
Shelly was prompt, pleasant and very talented. She did some educational things for the ladies, which they enjoyed and her music was so very nice!
My precious mother died during the pandemic and we weren't able to have the traditional services that she loved at that time. When time and science allowed, I wanted a church liturgy and celebration of life that captured the essence of my cherished Mom. The decision to have a harpist was a key element in adding elegance to our ceremonies. Shelley Otis was extraordinarily kind, compassionate and understanding in my desire to honor my Mom with music she would love. Shelley was always so gracious in every contact and meeting her was a genuine pleasure. Shelley and her harp provided both peace and joy. Shelley provided the physical and acoustic elements that portrayed the beauty of my Mom -- simple elegance.
My heartfelt gratitude for Shelley Otis.
While looking for a harpist for my backyard wedding, I came across a few people but ultimately chose Shelley. She always got back to me in a timely manner, professionally, and kindly. When I had questions or needed guidance for which songs to choose for the wedding, she was the best help. When it came to my wedding day, she arrived earlier to set up. She is so incredibly nice, calm, and overall a genuinely great person which was really nice to have on a day that's a bit stressful. As for her harp skills, my family and guests were BLOWN away. Absolutely beautiful music. We asked for a few certain songs that were not on her super long list of songs she already knows and she was happy to learn them and play them at the wedding. Shelley is one of the nicest people I have met and a breathtaking harp player. I feel so lucky that she played at my wedding and I got to know her.
Shelley made our dream day come true by playing the harp at our ceremony and cocktail hour. She is so versatile - she can capture any audience, and provides an ethereal aura to your special day. We cannot thank her enough.
My mother was dying in the hospital and because of COVID restrictions could not have any visitors. I had reached out to Shelley to see if she would perform virtually for and she agreed. My mother had a love for music and played the piano, would attend the Boston Pops, Tanglewood in the summer, the Boston and New York Symphony Orchestra. Music was always playing in the house when her children and grandchildren visited. Shelley played all of her favorite songs from Broadway to Beethoven to Happy Birthday to Christmas Carols celebrating her life and love of music. It was a beautiful gift we were able to give her. I would recommend Shelley strongly for any private event, corporate event, fundraiser gala, dinner party, weddings to funerals. She is extremely talented, client focused and loves music. A great artist to book for your event.
She was excellent! Very friendly, talented and professional. She answers right away and doesn’t waste time!
Shelley did a wonderful job preparing for my Daughters big day! They talked and made decisions on appropriate music. It was a lovely ceremony and she did an amazing job with the music. She was very proffesional and did contact me the day after the wedding. I would definately use Shelley again.
Shelley made our Valentine's Day Dinner that much more special! We will definitely be asking her to play again!
I hired Shelley for my fathers funeral service. She was a pleasure to talk to about all of the specifics. Every time we spoke she was very helpful and so sweet. Best of all her music was absolutely beautiful! It was exactly what we wanted and helped to make the memorial service everything that my dad would have wanted. I can't say enough about Shelley. She is amazing. HIre her!

The harp was the perfect fit for our small holiday gathering, the sound was beautiful and everyone was so happy with the entire evening!
We and our guests thoroughly enjoyed Shelley’s harp playing and engaging personality. She was a true hit. Her “world premiere” of Counting Stars by OneRepublic was outstanding. Well done!
Shelley was an elegant touch to my mother's Celebration of Life service. She added an angelic touch to a special moving day. She was wonderful to plan with! I look forward to planning future events with her!
I was overjoyed when Shelley said she was available for our wedding! In my search for a harpist I found the most beautiful, talented and personable being. I highly recommend for any occasion! My guests loved her as well.
Shelley was very helpful. Met with us a few times over the phone, even playing some songs to help us decide. Our ceremony started late but it was really nice to have her playing for our guests while we all waited. Her playing was a perfect touch to the day!
Guests all enjoyed Shelly’s harp music. I enjoyed it so much, I had her and the percussionist stay an extra hour. If you are looking for professionals, do yourself the favor and hire Shelly. You will be amazed at how much people enjoy having such beautiful music during cocktail hour and through dinner.
Shelley has been exceptionally accomodating to our needs. Very talented, professional and my fiance and I are looking forward to our ceremony where we are confident she will impress our guests.
Shelly's playing added a special note to our retirement reception (which usually has piped-in music). Many commented on this and noted they would very much enjoy having a performer such as Shelley at other College events.
Played for my mom's celebration of life and I couldn't be happier. Played my mom's favorite songs even though I wouldn't think they were traditional harpist hymns. Arrived on time and played until we were all gone. Great warm caring person. Very happy 😊
Shelley was wonderful and very professional. My guests raved about her. She has a lovely voice. Highly recommend. I will be checking checking her availability for next year.
Shelley performed a full two hours of lovely soft selections. She provided a truly beautiful and relaxing backdrop to a retirement reception held at one of the busiest hospitals in the world. Almost all of the guests were stopping by between serious, and often stressful, medical responsibilities Many, many guests expressed appreciation to us for the calming musical interlude that Shelley had provided.
I can't recommend Shelley and her percussionist enough. The music was enchanting. They would be the perfect act to have at a cocktail party, shower or at the start of a wedding reception. Everyone was thoroughly impressed and loved it!
Shelley was a wonderful addition to our nonprofit's spring fundraiser. She played a fantastic assortment of songs and was flexible with little tweaks in our schedule. Thank you!
We used Shelley for our wedding at the Biltmore in Providence and she was wonderful! I think having a harpist made the ceremony extra unique and elegant :). Shelley provided great professional service and beautiful music! She also provided mics for my officiant and Spanish interpreter which was super helpful.
On 11.06.16 Shelley performed at our wedding ceremony in Brookfield, MA
We found her through GigSalad and were immediately impressed with her thorough communication, friendliness, ease with working with us to show what she was capable of, her repertoire, suggestions, along with being completely flexible with our requests. She set us up with an online meeting (Google Hangout) and demonstrated her very impressive skills.
At the wedding she arrived, started exactly when she stated she would and played beautifully to everyone's delight.
I highly recommend Shelley Otis to anyone looking for a talented harpist (traditional or contemporary style) who is a very accommodating.

Shelley was fantastic at our open house. She payed a wide range of music that was the perfect back ground for the event. I will definitely use her again.
Ms Otis with her "tour of the harp" along with her lilting folk-like voice charmed the audience with a variety of pieces. At the reception following her performance several people approached me to ask her to return.
Shelley was the harpist for my October 2, 2011 wedding in Old Saybrook, CT. She is a truly a gifted harpist and I would HIGHLY recommend her! I received so many compliments on her from my guests. She is professional and such a pleasure to work with. Her music before, during, and after our ceremony was beautiful!!!

A lot of people ask if the harp can be played outside. Yes! I have a battery-powered amplifier that will help the sound carry. I can also play on the beach as long as I can put down a cloth to protect the harp from the sand. The only place I can't play is outside in the rain or snow!
I play over 400 songs from a variety of musical genres including popular, jazz, blues, classical, Celtic, international folk, and original compositions. If the song you want is not something I already play, I enjoy adapting any kind of music to the harp!

I bring my own sound system and have a battery option if there is no access to electricity. I can also bring my own chair. I'm basically self-sufficient...I just need a place to put my harp so I can make music for you!
