Watching Sheryl Faye portray Helen Keller in various stages of life in front of an audience of fourth-graders--notorious for squirming and losing focus--and seeing them sit riveted by her presentation was magical. She incited the students to laugh, gasp in surprise, murmur in disappointment, and then ask really insightful questions at the end. Very impressive in today's era of multimedia distractions! I highly recommend her for any school group.
I had the pleasure of seeing Sheryl Fay portray Helen Keller. The way the actress told the story had me, and the second graders in the audience, mesmerized. The show isn't dumbed down for kids, this is real theater. The actress took time to explain to the younger kids in the group that Helen Keller would get frustrated and was prone to fits, so she would be getting emotional but that it was only pretend. Sheryl patiently took questions from the audience and even had a Braille book for the kids to touch. I would highly recommend this show to educate and entertain students, teachers and lovers of history.
