A Great High Energy Show with Great Music!!!
Shinobi Ninja is a genre twisting rock circus with an explosive live show. Hailing from Brooklyn N.Y., the band’s six diverse characters mash up the sounds of Hip-Hop, Punk Rock, Metal, and Pop into something all its own;
"[…it's like] Beastie Boys and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. era Incubus had a baby. I think The Roots worked into that one somewhere too, if we're playing the name game. But don't do that to these guys, they are too damn original." - Kevin Henline, (link hidden)
With their music and D.I.Y. ethic, Shinobi Ninja has developed into a national touring act with a grassroots following that's vigorously connected through the band's social media and unparalleled live performances. Their 2011 debut album’s single and namesake, "Rock Hood", was featured on Q104.3 FM in NYC and in the video game, NBA 2K12, which has sold over 5.5 million copies worldwide. Both "Rock Hood", and their second single, "Slow Mourning", were the band's first adds to MTV, and MTVU that year. The band's 2010 video game, “Shinobi Ninja Attacks!,” was downloaded over sixty-thousand times and was the first of its kind, spawning the album app generation ((link hidden): "Jay-Z and the Mainstreaming of the 'Album App'"). In June 2013, Shinobi released "Power Strangers", the first single from their forthcoming second album, "Escape From New York".
SN has performed at SXSW Music Festival, The Warped Tour, 311's Pow Wow Festival, Summerfest, Catalpa NYC Music Festival, Nerdapalooza, The High School Nation Tour, and CMJ. When not headlining their own tours, the band has shared the stage with a variety of artists including The Black Keys, Tom Morello, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, 311, Snoop Dogg, Robert Glasper & Erykah Badu, Rise Against, Deftones, Slightly Stoopid, Black Sheep, Das EFX, Das Racist, Azealia Banks, Schoolly D, Matt & Kim, Chiddy Bang, Thomas Pridgen, Mike Posner, Angelo Moore, Green Jelly, DJ Skribble, Saigon Kick, Tokyo Police Club, Cage and more.
Prior to forming Shinobi Ninja, each member had respective careers in the music industry. Vocalist, D.A., had been a busy NYC musician, producer, and engineer at Progressive Studios. Vocalist, Baby G, who worked as a singer and dancer for major label artists like Rihanna, Diddy, Cassie, and Santigold, was a fixture in the vocal master class held at Progressive by esteemed vocalist, Craig Derry of the Sugarhill Gang. Twin brothers- guitarist, Maniac Mike and, drummer, Terminator Dave ran The Sound Machine, a recording studio where they produced their projects and the work of other artists. Alien Lex worked as an engineer at the Sound Machine. DJ Axis, an accomplished battle and club DJ, played in bands with Mike and Dave. After two years of of making a living together at Progressive Studios and The Sound Machine, this group of eclectic musicians decided to combine influences and form Shinobi Ninja in March 2008.
