Owner and performer, Jessica Lindsay, created the Aerial Showgirls in 2005. Since then the group has grown from a few female performers to a large group of talented and professionally trained male and female aerialists with diverse dance and performance backgrounds. Jessica and the Aerial Showgirls have had the pleasure of traveling all over the US and Europe performing for a wide variety of audiences.
We strive to provide top of the line entertainment for all types of events and venues, big or small. Book the Aerial Showgirls for your next special occasion!
About the Entertainment & Equipment:
Tissue: Tissue, also known as silk, is a circus apparatus from which the performer does death-defying drops, contortions and maneuvers while wrapped in two pieces of fabric suspended high in the air.
Static Trapeze: The trapeze is a metal bar suspended in the air by two ropes. Many of the moves are similar to the hoop, but are generally done without swinging or spinning. The ropes allow the artist to perform unique and creative tricks.
Aerial Hoop: Hoop, also known as cerceau or lyra, is another wonderful circus apparatus in which the performer makes beautiful maneuvers and shapes on a large metal hoop suspended in the air. Hoop is unique because it also allows the performer to take flight by swinging, spinning, and orbiting during an act, adding a great dynamic to the performance.
Spanish Web: The apparatus itself is a braided rope which has been covered with a soft cotton sleeve (a "web"), and is suspended from ceiling to floor. Towards the top of the apparatus a small loop is attached to the main rope through which a performer will secure an ankle or wrist and be able to hang freely. While in this position, the performer can do different tricks using the loop. The main attraction of this apparatus comes when another performer, standing below, starts spinning the rope in large arcs around the aerial performers body, gradually increasing the speed of the spin until enough centrifugal force is created to lift the aerialists body into a near-horizontal position.
Aerial Hammock: Hammock is also fabric that forms a cocoon around the performers body creating beautiful shapes inside and fantastic tricks outside of the apparatus.
Aerial Net: The net is very similar to the hammock, but it is made out of a net material that resembles a cargo net. The netting allows for a slightly different variety of tricks from the hammock.
Aerial Bar Tending: Our aerial bar tending rig is popular among all types of celebrations. Our aerial rig can be hung from the ceiling or our portable rig. It holds up to 12 bottles of alcohol, typically wine and champagne. Our acrobat is suspended in the middle of the bar. In between pouring drinks for your guests, the aerialist does aerial tricks to entertain and dazzle the crowd! Why have a "normal" bar when you could leave a memorable impression for everyone?!
Aerial Chains: Two chains, suspended from ceiling to the ground allow the aerialist to climb, and perform daring drops, maneuvers, and tricks. This act combines beauty and strength.
Trapeze Hoop: This hybrid apparatus takes the best from both worlds when it comes to trapeze and hoop. The act can be performed spinning, like hoop, or it can be stationary like trapeze. The combination of the hoop with the bar on top allows for unique and interesting tricks. This act is typically executed with 1 or 2 performers.
Aerial Flame Hoop: This mesmerizing aerial act will seduce and enchant your audience as the flames dance around on the tips of the "wings" that stretch out from the sides of the aerial hoop. This aerial act spans 11' wide. The performer uses this apparatus just like a regular aerial hoop by swinging, spinning, and orbiting, while striking beautiful and flexible poses on the hoop as fire encircles it.
Triple Hoop: Our triple hoop act takes all the wonderful and amazing moves of the regular aerial hoop, and multiplies it by three! With three hoops connected at their sides to form a circle, there are even more moves possible on this unique apparatus that cannot be achieved on other aerial apparatus. It spins, allowing the audience to see the act from every angle!
Aerial Bungee: This aerial apparatus can be performed high above a crowd, where the aerialist can bounce, flip, and fly in sexy poses! Its big, dynamic movements really get a crowd going!
Stilts: Standing 7-10' tall, stilt walkers can add a unique element to any event. They're a great new way to greet your guests, or pass out gift bags or promotional material. Not to mention stilt walkers are perfect for themed parties because of the many wonderful costume possibilities!
Contortion: Contortion demonstrates great flexibility and grace. Our performer's manipulate their bodies into beautiful shapes that seem to defy all boundaries of the human form. We also offer contortion inside a clear bubble that can float on top of a pool or be done on the ground.
Hand Balancing: his hand to hand act is performed on the ground, and involves amazing strength and grace. The performers hold, lift, and balance eachother in beautiful and thrilling positions. This acro-balance is typically performed between two people, but a third or even fourth person can be added to make this exciting act even more thrilling. We also have solo hand balancing acts where one performer manipulates their own body in different positions while in hand stands and other flexible poses.
Burlesque Fan dancing: This elegant and enticing dance is performed with large feather fans. It is flirtatious and intriguing as the performer manipulates the feather fans in a delicate and graceful manor.
Fire Fan Dancing: Our fire dancers will charm and hypnotize you with the flames of their fans. Not only is this act as flirtatious as our burlesque feather fan dancers, but it is daring too as the girls manipulate and dance with their fans, getting the flames within inches of their bodies.
Rigging:
Our company is equipped with professional gear for events and venues of all sizes. When hanging equipment we look for a strong point on the ceiling such as a foundation I-beam that we can hang our gear from. Hanging from a theater/stage grid is also preferable, or even using box trussing to secure our gear to is always an option. We have professional aerial riggers that can visit the event location, if needed, prior to a performance to determine the best way to set up our equipment.
For events held outdoors, or if the venue ceiling cannot support aerial acts, we have access to a free standing portable aerial rig. It is adjustable in height from 10' - 25' tall.
