"Relax", it's "True!" You're gonna party "like it's 1999" with us as the best music of the 80's will be "In The Air" when Smile'N'Wave hits the stage. We take the volume from a "Whisper to a Scream", have been known to "Make Plans for Nigel", and although some of our fans find themselves "Turning Japanese" during our shows, we , we guarantee that you'll be "Hungry Like a Wolf" in wanting more of those great 80's tunes.

LIVE 80'S DANCE PARTY
After seven years and hundreds of shows together, the gentlemen of Smile'n'Wave continue to spread the energizing influence of 80's New Wave music to audiences new and old. Formed in 2017, the band includes veterans of some of Ontario's top touring bands in the 80's and 90's as well as current solo artists.
With an emphasis on fun, each of these musicians inhabits an archetypal 80's musical iconic character - complete with costumes and attitude during the show, specifically:
Gareth – our lead singer – topped the UK charts in the 1980’s as one half of the punk/bagpipe duo Gareth & The Other Guy with their hit single, Just The Tip.
Davey - our drummer - has worked with some of the biggest names in punk and post-punk music in the UK including: Free Heroin, No Time for Bollocks, The Dead Churchill's and Your Mam's a Chav
Pat - our lead guitarist - was a feature of the West Coast music scene in the 1990's and the inspiration for the classic ska indie movie, Purple Guitar
Roger – our bass player – has been a sought-after studio musician for years and played bass on one of the best-selling funk albums of all time, Crank It, Crunk It, Ya Gotta Funk It
Mac - our keyboard player - is in hiding from the IRS, the Cuban Ministry of Internal Security, and representatives from SeaFoam records due to a royalties dispute over his song Girl, You Make Me Want to Change The Station

We travel with a complete PA and Lighting Rig - we can also work with the lighting and sound engineers at the venue of your choosing.

As artists, our mandate is to provide a Live 80's Dance Music party featuring the best of New Wave and Post-Punk; a period in musical history that began around 1978 and ended around 1985.
Artists who rose to prominence during that period of time included chart-topping bands like Duran Duran, The Fixx, Split Enz, Prince, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Gary Numan, The Cars, Flock of Seagulls, Modern English, The Knack, Depeche Mode, ABC, and The Monks.
A significant influence on us as Canadian musicians was the prominence of Canadian bands that were on heavy rotation on MuchMusic in the early 1980's: The Spoons, Corey Hart, Boys Brigade, Tom Cochrane & Red Rider, and Men Without Hats. Canadian New Wave hits are staples of our shows!
