Hot picking bluegrass instrumental performances, clean cut family performance suitable for all ages, clean cut family that is respectful and will entertain all ages, tight family harmonies, Original material and complex material that is not just standard basic bluegrass; as well as well done gospel numbers where desired.
We do lots of original material, progressive bluegrass; also some traditional. All the family (except dad) were classically trained and made the switch to bluegrass 4 years ago. The classical training impacts the quality of the instrumental performance, you will see many influences in our bluegrass; traditional; swing, a bit of jazz influence, classical, and blues. You can check out the videos on our website and facebook. Bluegrass Audiences love our mix of some familiar tunes but mainly original; fresh material. You will not hear the same 10 cover songs you hear with many bluegrass groups. Also we have really worked on our vocals in 2012 and 2013 and the vocal performance has stepped up to the instrumental focus we had early on
Corey at age 18 is the band manager and writes much of the music. He has quickly become acknowledged as one of the up and coming young flatpickers in bluegrass world. Corey is also a videographer and has put together a DVD project called Generation Bluegrass, which is a performing arts venue show and film that showcases some of the best up and coming young Bluegrass performers out there. Generation Bluegrass premiered in 2012 in Nashville at the International Bluegrass Music Assn Convention and was very well received.
Nellie Grace has a very unique fiddling style that combines her classical training with influences from her teacher Glen Alexander and great fiddlers like Stuart Duncan. Nellie has focused on her singing the past year and we are really excited about our vocals and the 3 part harmony with Corey and Eli ; tight harmony that you can tell is family harmony
Luke is 13 and won the Fiddlers Grove 17 and under Banjo category at their 2011 Fiddlers Convention.
Eli at mandolin at age 11 is one of the best mandolin players you will find for his age (and for many ages), and shows his classical training in his playing, as well as the influence of Glen Alexander and his present teacher, Wayne Benson of 3rd TIme Out. We call Eli lightning fingers because he loves to play so fast. He truly loves and feels the music and is always a crowd favorite. Eli has been greatly influenced by Chris Thile as well.
We also love doing gospel bluegrass music for churches as well; and can adapt our material to fit any venue. Check us out on youtube and the web; We love playing heritage music and meeting nice folks.
Also, because of our involvement with the Youth in Bluegrass Project Generation Bluegrass, we feel like our family band is a great encouragement to the next generation to support, pursue, and to play heritage music.
Our definition of Good Music? Music that brings generations together. That is why we love bluegrass so much.
