Hi! My name is Melanie Ambler and I'm a classically trained cellist with 20 years of experience, as well as a medical student at Stanford with a passion for combining music with medicine. I've played for weddings, memorial services, conferences, birthday parties, corporate events and large public speaking gigs for over 3000 people. I have repertoire in varied areas (from classical to pop) and also am quite comfortable with improvisation.
My greatest passion is playing for patients and their families. I offer one-on-one concerts either virtual or in person that can be recorded and saved for the future.
Melanie performed at our events during cocktail hour. She was communicative before the event and very flexible with our requests. The guests loved the performance!

An enthusiastic and passionate cellist with varied repertoire for the occasion. I have hours of classical repertoire, and can learn most jazz/pop songs with enough notice. I’d love a be a part of your event!
Melanie is a classically trained cellist and fourth-year medical student at Stanford School of Medicine. Her passions lie at the intersection of music and medicine. She graduated from Brown University in 2019 and subsequently moved to Caen, France as a Fulbright Fellow to pursue a master’s in Neuroscience and study the effect of music on patients with dementia. She is the recipient of the Rosalind Swenson Enrichment Award from the French Fulbright Commission for her work in providing virtual concerts to nursing homes in France during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, she also played one-on-one virtual concerts for over 200 critically ill patients as a “musician on call” with the non-profit, Project: Music Heals Us.
In 2024, she started Musical Rounds, a music and storytelling project for patients in palliative care. To support this work, she has been awarded a MedScholars Research Fellowship from Stanford School of Medicine, a Community Health Equity grant from Stanford and Resonance Fellowship, a music professional development fellowship, from the Honeywell Arts Academy. She is the recipient of the Stanford Graduate Music Prize and the Stanford Chamber Music Prize.
I can play solo acoustic cello. I have a high quality Neumann clip on mic that can directly plug into a sound system for amplification if needed.
