We hired this band for our 2024 work Christmas party and they were amazing! The music, the vibe, the talent, everything was perfect- zero complaints!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Rosalie.
We so enjoyed our time with you guys and you put on one-hell-of-a party!
Top-end venue, crazy great food, everything was spectacular.
You were also very easy to work with and treated us very well.
We hope to be back again next year with you guys celebrating 2025.
Just saw this band playing in Port Elgin. They are fantastic! Very professional and extremely talented musicians. I will definitely follow this band to see when I can again enjoy their talents. If you love great hits from many decades of music you must see this band!!!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Wow! Barry!
Usually, this site is for clients but holy smokes we welcome your input!
Thank you so much for your generous review! We were so happy to have you along for the ride Sunday.
Shh. Don't tell anyone I said this but, in my humble opinion, I thought we played really well ;)
Maybe we will see you again this summer - our Facebook and website will keep you informed about all the places we will be.

Somethings Always Flying are not only outstanding performers who can really electrify an audience, they are also extremely professional and communicative.
They were excellent to deal with from the onset. They entertained our guests for hours, playing everyone’s favourites and kept the dance floor jumping. I would highly recommend Somethings Always Flying to anyone looking to have live entertainment at their party.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Jill.
It was OUR pleasure playing for you and your guests!
Such nice things to say about our process, it is something we take pride in.
Your guests were respectful and appreciated what we were playing.
Jill - you were also very easy to work with, which is always a pleasure. I deal with a lot of clients and not very many are as easy to work with as you are.
Your event was a very classy, top-end party and had everything in the right place. It is very obvious you've planned a few of these before.
I'm sure we will see you again very soon, thank you so much for having us!
They were there early for set up.
Their music was a faithful reproduction of the hits they played and kept the sound levels so we could all still talk. Singers and musicians were very accomplished that many guests at the birthday party commented to me.
They happily integrated into the overall schedule of the birthday events (entrance of birthday wife.. eating... happy birthday singing.. end of night). There were 35 of us but they played like they were being filmed at the Air Canada Centre.
I'd book them once a month if I had the money.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Wow! Well, thank you Jim for everything. You managed to put together a great event in a short amount of time. Your guests were fantastic, and the birthday girl was genuinely happy! We are thrilled to have been a part of it and would be happy to work with you again in the future.
We have played in many non-traditional venues before, but this was our first church gig. Even the pastor was accommodating and asked for our card for future reference. What more could we ask for? Thanks again. It was truly our pleasure!
Something's Always Flying performed at our Festival and everyone loved them!! They were great to work with and their playlist was perfect for all ages at this event!!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thanks Paula!
I'm still in awe of the history of this event. The sheer size of it, and from such humble beginnings!
Classy, professional, top notch!
Thanks again.
Somethings Always Flying was our entertainment for my husband’s 50th birthday party. Amazing group, very easy to work with leading up to the event as well as the day of. Everyone loved the set list and the music; they were on point! Highly recommended
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you for the very kind words Jennifer. You deserve the credit for the excellent party you put on. It was so great to see the look on his face! Thanks once again to you and your amazing family and friends.
Peace and love.
SAF
This is an amazing group of musicians!! Words cant express the amazing experience we had with this band! So many adjectives can describe this group- not only are they Truly talented- they are a professional, Extremely kind, polite, generous group of guys! When they found out my husbands favorite song was "Free Bird" and it was not on their set list-They learned it in a week and were FANTASTIC!! The signed, framed set list was a beautiful touch. So many of our friends look forward to having them play at their next event and I cant wait to have them back! Thank you for making the surprise party a spectacular event!!!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Lisa
The event was simply beautiful. Food, drinks, venue, all top end!

We are so glad you enjoyed the band and hope we get to cross paths again soon!

This was the 2nd time Somethings Always Flying has played at my pub, and they are freakin' awesome!
The crowd loves them and they are just great guys.
Will definitely have them back.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Shannon for the very kind words.
We have such a great time everytime we go to the Kip. The band gets excited knowing we will be playing for some of the best people we know.
We can't wait to come back again.
We are extremely honored that you chose us to play for your very first anniversary party and we hope to be included for many many more to come.
Congratulations once again, you're killing it as always.
SAF
The band did a phenomenal job at our wedding.
The music they played for us was absolutely perfect. They even learned new songs for us too!
We are extremely happy with everything and will absolutely hire them again!
Thank you so much for everything guys! You were incredible!!!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
We are so very glad your event was a success! It is very obvious you are all loved, fun to hang around with and very gracious hosts. We felt welcome and honored to have been a part of your day.
We look forward to seeing you and your family again.
The opportunity to play in a new city is very rare and for that we thank you.
We can't wait to see the pictures!
Love and peace to you and your incredible family.
SAF
The band provided excellent entertainment, had approx 80 family and friends at the event, everyone enjoyed the music, many great comments from everyone, we all had a blast, many thanks to steve and his band mates ,
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Steve, we didn't know your yard held that many bodies!
Mary and yourself put on an amazing day and we are so glad we could cap it off!
We can't think of a better hosts, nothing was left out of check.
The bon fire at 2am, our newest temporary member on the Tambo who played with us all night, the kids, the dancers all in all a very good time
We will see you again in November at the Arms!
If you want to ensure that your event is a success, your first call should be to book Something’s Always Flying. Steve is very professional, thorough and an absolute joy to work with in the planning stages.
During the event he checked in with us multiple times throughout the evening to ensure we were “happy”. All band members are respectful and professional, as well as being a positive, great bunch to spend some time with. We were delighted with the surprise personal touches including tailoring the “tweener” music to our noted genre suggestions and leading the audience in a heartfelt rendition of 'Oh Canada' upon receiving a guest’s request. Our guests spanned newborn to elderly with a full spectrum of everything in between. Enough about logistics. Let’s talk talent. We heard these guys playing from across a lake and went over to check out what we thought was a killer DJ. To our shock and surprise, it was SAF playing live. We only caught a few songs from their last set that night and booked them on the spot. Our event was planned around this band and they were the central draw to bring in guests for our event (which was loosely a 25th anniversary event but mainly an excuse to have a backyard concert).
Although some guests may not have had a prior appreciation for some of the genres of music we requested, everyone was drawn in by the sheer talent and enthusiasm of the Something’s Always Flying band members (Luke was on fire!). Even the elderly guests stayed almost until the end very much enjoying the entertainment. I’ll never get the image of 80+ yr olds tapping along to Aerosmith, Zeppelin and the Hip out of my mind. If they didn’t appreciate the music before they came to our event, they sure appreciated Something’s Always Flying’s delivery!! This speaks to playing to the crowd, having a balanced set list and superb balanced sound. In the words of one of our younger guests during Whole Lotta Love, “they are completely nailing it”!! This band offers it all and is the real deal. Don’t look anywhere else. You’ve found everything you need in SAF (and even more that you don’t yet realize you want!). Want more proof – find them on Facebook and check out their videos…or catch them at a live event near you!! Since we had to “work the room” at our event greeting guests, we felt gypped out of the experience of hearing the band and are going to see them live again less than two weeks after our event to treat ourselves. We are quickly becoming superfans. Ha!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
What an epic review! I think it was obvious that we totally enjoyed playing for you guys and your guests but to see you 2 weeks later at one of our regular gigs many miles from home touches our hearts!
It is unbelievable when other musicians call us things like the real deal. We've spent countless hours trying to get the right stuff, it pays off when we hear other players giving us professional kudos, so thank you for that.
Like all bands we can not survive without clients however clients like you are truly why we do what we do. After all we've already heard these songs a few times 😁.
Thank you so much for treating us like royalty, going above and beyond the rider, and having a yard FULL of appreciation. We really do hope to play for you again one day, maybe your 26th?
I recently booked Something's Always Flying for my wedding and boy would it of been a mistake if I hadn't! From the booking process dealing with Steve right until the end cleanup it was an absolute pleasure to work with them. The range of songs that they play could not be more perfect for a wedding/party. I had countless attendees from my wedding come up to me and say they were the best Classic Rock cover band they had ever seen. The dance floor was packed from start to finish and I could not of asked for a better experience! Thanks again guys!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Nolan,
As you know we regard you and Christine very high on our fan base list. From all the nights we've seen you at Block3 to your engagement party to your wedding night your enthusiasm for live music is overwhelming.
Because you are also a musician and know the commitment and dedication it takes to put on just one show, your opinion ranks at the very top of our list.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to play for you and your guests, all those people danced for 2 solid hours. For us, that's OFF THE HOOK!
Peace and love to you, Christine and your new life together.
SAF
Not only are they a great band, they are great to work with.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Wendy.
We are so very glad you chose us to be apart of Rob's birthday celebration.
We hope to see you and your crew again very soon!
SAF
We hired the band for our fiftieth birthday celebrations. They were professional from beginning to end. The crowd got up dancing and stayed on the dance floor throughout the night. Lead singer has an awesome range, and the band is tight! Hire these guys!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Brock, you are far too kind! Thank you for the wonderful words. We are certainly glad you and your guests enjoyed the show.
I know the band had a great time, we will be taking about it for a long time to come.
Please thank Janice once again for her enthusiasm and genuine appreciation for live music. Happy birthday to you both we hope your 50th is a wonderful year and brings much happiness.
SAF
I hired Something’s Always Flying for my event after getting two quotes from DJ’s and I am so grateful that I did. They are Amazing! The range of songs that they can do is phenomenal! They even practiced new songs just for my event. Everyone at my party commented on how good they are and wanted to know where I found them. So if you are thinking about getting them, stop thinking and just do it. You will not be sorry.
On top of all that, Steve from the band went above and beyond to help me with my event. I was blown away with his kindness and generosity. I will be telling everyone I know to hire you guys and to come see you at one of your shows. Thank you so much for making my party a success, you guys will forever have my gratitude.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you, Jenn.
I remember the first day we talked you were a mess and the journey we have been on ... no one would believe.
I really do enjoy helping out where I can but doing this with you was really really fun!
From the first day you seriously thought this was going to flop and I'm so glad that together we made this monster happen. Your diligence to staying in touch and knowing that there are no irrelevant questions was the key to making this event successful.
Not everyone gets new songs done for them but in your case the time frame was just right for it. We don't just learn new material, we need to try them out on the public first to make sure that we have a viable product to bring to you. Thankfully we had enough time to do both and for that WE thank YOU, after all its more songs to put into our repertoire.
Your gig was on our radar from the day you hired us because damnit, who doesn't want to do a Star Wars themed event?!
The surprise was worth it! Mark didn't know what hit him!
Your speech was great and I am so glad that we could help you achieve something to be very very proud of and something that Mark will never forget. Obviously we look forward to seeing you out to one or more of our gigs coming up but mostly we just look forward to seeing you.
Please send a huge happy birthday to Mark and thank you for the wonderful words here, I know I speak for the entire band when I say "you've made our day!"
Steve
We had Something's Always Flying out for a 60th birthday party. Steve and the band were professional, fun and sounded Amazing! So many compliments from the guests regarding their sing choices, energy and the quality of the sound! Steve was incredible to work with - was organized, reliable and willing to help every step of the way! We will for sure be booking them again in the future.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
We've done our share of private gigs they are always a treat, but we would be hard pressed to find anyone who parties harder than your crew!
Your family welcomed us like one of their own and that's is the best feeling ever!
Please book us again, because we can't come back until some one invites us!
I’m at a loss for words as to how best describe this incredible night. The band was astonishing! From the initial on-line introductions to the show that night I was so impressed. Everyone in attendance at our show loved it. Many messages were sent back and forth to Martin and I and between our guests who were so obviously delighted with the show. Our people got right into the show and the band fed off of that. All involved had a great night. We will absolutely be booking them again in the near future. Well done guys!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Dana you are too kind.
We really enjoyed playing for your group.
We've never had people dancing during sound check before! Lol
We can not wait to play for you again.
Please thank Martin for his support as well
Steve
Booked them for a Saturday night at our local bar Hacks, and they were wonderful. All my customers loved them, and we can't wait to have them back Oct 19th. I heard nothing but compliments all night.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Rebecca!
We are very happy that your guests enjoyed themselves and had great things to say about us, after all happy guests = happy bar owners. We too can't wait to return and wanted to thank you for the extra booking in November!
It was the first night with our new sound man so we were unsure how many growing pains we were going to go through to get it right. Thankfully we had most of the bugs ironed out before we started and the recordings tell us we chose the best sound man we could have. I think we will keep him 😉.
We also do an assessment of the places we play to decide how the band feels about going back to venues. We all had such a good time it was a unanimous and obvious YES! everyone was so helpful getting us started and making sure we were well watered though out the evening 🤣🤣. Your guests were so good to us as well, I've never heard so many compliments in one place!
We will see you again very very soon, thanks again for the wonderful words and extra booking.
SAF
I book performers for a bar in Kitchener. We have booked Something's Always Flying twice now. The first show was challenging due to cicurmstances beyond our control but they remained professional before, during and after the show.
We book them because they communicate well, bring people out to their shows and treat our team members respectfully.
We recommend booking them and we will book them again.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thank you Lee
Kind words from a very kind client!
We always have great crowds and a stupendous time at your brewery!
We can't wait to play for you again and you are more than welcome to book us anytime we are available.
SAF
Honestly, I have never hired a band before. I came across GIGSALAD when looking for a band to hire for our Harley-Davidson annual picnic and decided to take a chance on Something's Always Flying. WOW... BEST DECISION EVER! The guys were courteous, well prepared, energetic and best of all... they knew how to "read the crowd"... which is an important thing with bikers lol. But seriously, Steve and his crew delivered much more then we expected and I would highly recommend them to anyone who loves to listen to great tunes played extremely well!
Response from Something's Always Flying:
Thanks Dawn!
It really was our pleasure working for you guys. We would do it again anytime!
These guys were great! They played all the classic rock tunes that make you get up and dance! And they had the stage lighting to add to the party atmospere! We even met some neighbours from down the street because they were out looking to see where all the great music was coming from! They moved some patio furniture to set up their equipment on the deck, and then put it all back in place afterwards! Brownie points for that! Stephen was great to communicate with over details of the party. Plus, they were all great guys. I'd hire this band again anytime.
Response from Something's Always Flying:
It was so much fun to play for your group Kathy.
Such a gracious host and the birthday boy was way too much fun!
Clients like you and your amazing group are why we do this!
Thank you for everything, food, drinks, dancing, singing along and of course your generous tip.
Please contact us again for your next event!

Read on to get a full overview of what is included when you hire us besides the music.
The Volume.
Let's start here and talk about the volume, or as we like to call it, the "make or break" factor for your event. You might not have thought about it, but trust us, your guests or neighbours will definitely notice if their ears are ringing by the end of the night.
Acoustic drums and cymbals. Here's the issue ... they're loud. Really f'n loud. Like, "wake up the dead" loud. Which means that all the other instruments have to compete with that level of noise.
Most bands struggle with the volume issue because they simply can't turn it down.
Well, don't worry, we're not most bands. We're like the Goldilocks of music - we know how much volume is "just right" for your event.
Our secret weapon? ELECTRONIC DRUMS.
They allow us to control the volume from the beginning, so we can rock out as loud or as quiet as you want. Plus, we're not just musicians, we're also expert volume whisperers. If you want it quieter, we'll make it quieter. If you want it louder, we'll crank it up to eleven and rip the paint off your walls.
Regardless of the situation we can keep the volume at a reasonable level without sacrificing any of the energy and excitement of a live performance.
So if you're worried, don't be. We've got you covered. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show - at whatever volume level makes you happy.
First Contact.
Of course we need to find out if we are a good fit for you and your guests. Classic Rock is a vast genre and now covers around 70 years of music, so finding a 'fit' for your event is very important.
For example …
- You want to hire a rock band because your husband or wife is a classic rock fan but, you dig country.
- "You guys play classic rock but I want to hear punk, 80's hair bands and 90's alternative also."
- "Do you do Elvis?"
These situations are gone over to make sure we are right for you. We are very flexible, if we can accommodate, it will happen. If we cannot it’s possible we can aid you in your search for what you really need.
The Cost.
We do need to cover our expenses like any other entertainment you would hire and we've streamlined our rates so they are as low as possible. We own all of our equipment so you're not paying any rental fees for the equipment and we carpool when possible so you're not paying extra for gas.
Once an agreement is reached we go to work making sure your event is amazing.
The Research.
We come out to research your venue completely. No, we aren’t going through your fridge but when it's available we do come out to see the site and meet you in person. We need to check the power situation, see the performance site, the load in and out area and the parking situation. For outdoor events, we discuss the rain contingency and make sure we have planned for the weather no matter what it may be on your date. We have a checklist of things that are discussed at the pre-gig meeting to ensure everyone is taken care of from the time we walk on site to the time we leave. From logistics to porta-potties we discuss EVERYTHING. We've done a few of these things over the years, this stage helps us so we know what we are responsible for, you are clear with your side and possibly things you haven’t even thought of come to light.
We will work together to provide a great experience for you and your guests.
The Show.
You are going to hear Rock and Roll that is a given and it's very very good.
The music covers many different eras. There truly is something for everyone and the set lists are always changing but, beyond the music there is so much more.
Performance area, lighting, sound levels it all matters.
Details are important; the smallest thing could be a lasting memory, a song that is requested, people you want to acknowledge, pictures, video, or Uncle Jim doing the worm on the dance floor … there are so many situations and we do try to address them all because the better we are at providing what you need, the more successful your event is.
If there's something you want to hear it's our job to get that for you. If we can learn it we will or we can put it on our 'between set' audio list you are guaranteed to hear it!
In the end, we are a rock band, we like to perform and we care, we really do and when you peruse the reviews we have accumulated, you are reading things our friends have said about us. The thing is, they weren't always our friends, in the beginning, they were just like you, looking for entertainment and found us.
The Clean Up.
What happens when the band leaves? We are very proud to be able to say we take care of your space and will leave it like we were never there. Anything we’ve moved or anything we may have dropped will be gone before we are. We even assist in the clean-up after your guests have left no matter where the event takes place.
We’ve assisted bar staff and cleared tables, carried food and packed Tupperware, swept garage floors and moved lawn furniture, emptied coolers and done the recycling. After everyone is gone and it's just your best friends helping to clean up the mess - we are still there making it easier. It’s been said before, we care, we really do.
The Finish
The final thing is your review of your experience from the moment you clicked ‘send me a quote’ to the pictures or video we may send you days after the event is over. We may not become lifelong buddies but we will impress you with our performance and our thoroughness.
From the Manager
I've been in customer service for most of my adult life and I use the skills I've learned every day.
As the manager/drummer of this band I can’t wait to meet you, whether it's a big event with hundreds of people or 30 close friends in your backyard, let’s talk about how we can make your event memorable.
Stephen
Over the course of 12 years, many miles and a few personnel changes we have now become a six-member rock band that performs with vocals, guitars, keys, and drums. Our band is well-rehearsed and has hundreds of shows under our belts. We hail from the Waterloo Region of Ontario, Canada, which places us right at the center of the Ontario music scene.
We have performed at numerous shows throughout the years, ranging from backyard or garage performances in front of 20-30 people to large festivals with crowds of (phone number hidden) people. Our performances have taken us to living rooms, backyards, beautiful beaches, grassy knolls, yacht-filled docks, bars, and music venues. We even once performed in a shooting range! We know that surprises can happen at any time, and that's why we enjoy what we do so much!
Our band is like a family, and we range in age from our early 30's to early 60's, giving us the ability to provide a wide variety of music to our clients. We are all working-class individuals who are friendly and professional and will always be willing to listen to any requests you may have.
Over the years, we have put a lot of effort into networking, which has paid off handsomely. If you need any assistance in finding something, we may be able to help you out. After all, "the show must go on"!
One of our clients has said, "The experience of this band is refreshing - it is well-oiled and very good!"
They weren't wrong!
Please feel free to visit our media section and browse through our collection of videos, our audio section that features a demo of the variety of music we play and our pictures section where you will find promotional shots as well as a QR code to easily access our social media pages.
Below you will find a list of the equipment we use, it is changing all the time as we reinvest in our gear but you may like a certain sound or wonder what it takes to put on a show like ours, well, here you go.

Who Influenced us?
Well with 6 members of all different ages one could imagine the amount of entertainers who have at one time or another touched our lives.
Of course every member has certain music that they enjoy outside of playing in the band.
However collectively, one will hear everything from classic rock and classic punk to todays country and pop music coming through the speakers at our rehersal space.
We really do have a vast amount of influence and it shows if you listen real close.
Power: we are a rock band with electronics, lots of them! We require 2 separate 110 volt 15 amp circuits. We have miles of extension cable to make it happen in almost any situation.
We own all of our own small stage equipment, If you need a large stage production (large PA's, laser lighting, suspended rigging etc.) we can point you in the direction of some STELLAR off the radar professionals
Stage: while we have played on every surface known to man except the moon, a stage is preferred for a few reasons; it keeps our equipment dry and we do like people to see us! Not a deal breaker by any means, simply preferred.
Cover: We do have 3 10x10 shade tents so in driving rain we would need a full out weather proof tent. A rain contingency is imperative in certain months.
