Soulful Pianist/Vocalist aka The New Luther

I’m very organized and timely; I’m capable of playing and performing any song at a week’s notice perfectly without prior knowledge of the track. Always professional and courteous. Favorably compared to Luther Vandross, Brian McKnight and Will Downing, Ishma'el "Brooks" Braggs, born on 12/11/1978, in Connecticut, is a vocalist, pianist and songwriter who studied classical piano for over 30 years. He lived in Cuba for a couple of years and then finally settled in southeast Virginia for most of his childhood. He studied Vocal Music at Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University as well. He has spent his entire life creating and performing music. He's directed choirs since his teenage years and has garnered interest from some popular labels. Ishma'el later sought to start his own label and began formulating 'BrooksGordon Music Company' in 1998.

The songs he writes are clues to the foundation of his beliefs and experiences, while others are rooted in experimentation. His inducement has always been to create music that people can feel. His music is heavily influenced by Luther Vandross, Prince, Michael Jackson, Will Downing, Stevie Wonder and Joe Sample. His piano style is influenced by Keiko Matsui, Bruce Hornsby, and Ray Charles. His beat creation is influenced by Nottz, Dr. Dre and Timbaland. Well-respected by his peers, he always seeks to help musicians and artists who endeavor to create music and beauty in the world.

BrooksGordon Music seeks to found an entity that puts the artists first and helps them to easily manage their careers via modern convention. It also seeks to provide tools for the artist's manager and/or management team to facilitate organization of their career. Furthermore, his company seeks to integrate the venues, stations and outlets for music worldwide to the independent labels and artists.
