Thank you so much for the review here on Gig Salad, Erdal. I would love to come back next year. In the meantime, I will learn the other Chopin piece of music that you mentioned. I enjoyed putting together a program filled with Classical Music, and my World Music. Something very different.
We hired "Sounds of Laura" for our Red Carpet Event and was very pleased with Laura and her selection of music. We received many compliments from the Realtors and we will definitely hire Laura again for future events. Laura was so easy to work with, arrived on time for setting up and waited until the three hour event was over before she packed everything up. I highly recommend Laura for you upcoming Events! She's a beautiful soul, a delight & plays beautiful music!

Laura played at my wedding on December 8,2012! My husband's friend was our pianist at first, but he ended up having to back out two weeks before the wedding--Bridal nightmare!
So I got on google and came across Laura's name on GigSalad. I read her reviews (which were all positive), so I decided to write her a message for a free quote. She responded very quickly, and to my relief, had very reasonable prices! She also called me the next day to follow up, give me more information about her services, and let me know a little about herself. She was such a delight to talk to on the phone-- very sweet and outgoing.
We then set up an appointment to go over song choices. Laura started playing the piano, and it was one of the most beautiful sounds I had heard in a long time! You can see her passion for music when she is playing or even just talking about music. She was very informative in helping to pick songs and was open to our preferences/opinions. She was so easy to work with!
She arrived to the wedding promptly, and she was dressed in a beautiful, elegant dress that matched our wedding colors! She also played the piano beautifully. My bridal suit was next to the ceremony room, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her play the piano while I waited for the ceremony to begin. During the reception, I had many guests tell me how beautiful the ceremony music was!
I don't think we could have picked a better pianist! And did I mention that we did all of this the week before our wedding? Yes, we did! :) Laura saved us!
You will not be disappointed if you choose her as your pianist!

Laura met with us at her house to go over some music and we picked out the songs we liked. She has a portable keyboard that sounds amazing! She can make a song sound like the piano, organs, strings, etc. She compiled a list of the music we liked and the order according to our wedding. She helped out at the wedding and gave the minister a signal to walk to the altar. She played 30 minutes before the ceremony and after the ceremony as the guests were leaving. I would recommend Laura!!
Laura played for a funeral I attended this morning. The chapel didn't have a booster for the piano and she still made it sound beautiful. I think she was taking the lead but singing ended up leading & she made us sound good by playing along. Many verses of Amazing Grace and more songs we sang praising God & remembering Steve. Laura seems thoughtful, especially on a somber day like 2day she made it all the more special for participants &family alike. Bless u!
I was searching for pianists for my Waco wedding and came across Laura through this site. We communicated by phone and email, and I decided she would be great for our ceremony. I had a couple of special requests that were not already in her extensive repertoire - "Yellow" by Coldplay for my processional, and the Baylor school song for our recessional. She found the "Yellow" sheet music online and communicated with me in detail about how she would make the intro, cuts, etc. She searched for the school song and when she couldn't find it, she contacted the Baylor school of music personally and obtained it from them. She pieced together all the ceremony music well in advance of the wedding based on our selections, and she made good suggestions for how to arrange the selections in the prelude, etc. She played at our rehearsal and I requested some changes on "Yellow" for the ceremony - she accomodated this change overnight and it sounded just like I wanted during the ceremony. The quality of her music overall was great, it all sounded beautiful. She is very detail-oriented and will work to make sure everything goes together nicely!

Laura is great! She was super friendly and helpful from the very first phone call. She worked with everything we wanted and worked around our schedules to plan everything. If she didn't have the music(which she has TONS!) she went and got it and practiced it to be perfect for the ceremony! Her and her "Roadie", TJ, are both pleasant and professional and great to work with! She is also very prompt and replies to any inquiries within the same day!! She brings her own keyboard so can change the sound of several songs just by playing it on strings, Electric Piano, regular Piano, etc. Her consultations are fun and upbeat and really let you get a feel for what will be played at your wedding or any event!!

About
In addition to Laura's winning AWARDS fr. WeddingWire Network for 11 different years, she has also been named to the 2011, 2012, & 2013 WEDDING PROFESSIONAL HOT LIST from Momentville.

Laura's versatile performance background started with the precision of a Kilgore Rangerette in 1962, (officer..one year later,) the fun of Six Flags Over Texas shows, followed by the discipline of the TCU Ballet Department. She has danced with both the Fort Worth Opera Association and San Antonio Opera. Other dance credits include appearances on the Southwestern Bell TV Show and performing artist for the Texas Historical Society.
After completing her BFA in Ballet-Theater and MFA in Speech-Drama from TCU, Laura has been a choreographer, professor, singer and pianist.
She began studying piano at the age of 9 in her hometown, Atlanta, Texas. She was classically trained. Her teacher, Mrs. W.O. Harden, insisted that she learn music from the Romantic, Classical, and Baroque Eras. Early knowledge of the impressionist, Debussy, and the 20th century greats such as Sibelius were familiar studies for this young student.
While attending TCU for advanced degrees, Laura continued to study classical music with Lilita McCorkle, prominent member of the music faculty.
Laura's musicianship reveals that she is equally at home with Minuets, Romantic Waltzes, Ragtime, Jazz, and Pop.
Laura combines technique with melody to create her own arrangements of many song styles...familiar and new alike. Technical ability, imagination and her special touch further enables Laura to embellish music spanning many genres.
Not just a pianist....a creative, unique artist describes SOUNDS OF LAURA. This talented piano stylist designs beautiful musical programs with her varied sounds available on her 88 key professional, Yamaha, electric piano. Sounds of Laura provided excellent live ceremony music for our wedding. Laura & I reviewed each song & the order of songs in advance. She is very flexible & willing to work with you on music. Since she is such a professional, I trusted her opinion & judgment & went with the list she proposed. But I did not want to enter to "here comes the bride" so she chose a more classical piece for my entrance. Her keyboard produces so many varieties of sounds, not only piano, but organ, pipe organ, & many other sounds. When we were developing the list of music, she would play me an example of each sound...here it is in piano, here it is in organ, etc...which I appreciated. My music was completly customized for me & our wedding day. Everything was perfect & we had so many compliments for having live music & not a CD. Sometimes, if there is a change or the timing is off, a CD seems off with the people walking. For example, we had some elderly people in the wedding so Laura could see them & time the music to their walk...the bridal party didn't have to adjust to the music; Laura adjusted and accommodated the music.
