If you’re going to spend $500 on an awkward, cringey Spiderman experience, buy a cheap costume and pay someone from your local high school drama club to wear it for an hour.
The performer, Jake, was in contact early and showed up with a card for the birthday boy. He arrived in full Spidey suit, walks through the door, and instead of playing into it at all while these five kids are running up to him, like saying, “Hey, I just finished webbing up Electro and wanted to swing in for the birthday party!” He literally says, “Can someone point out the birthday boy for me?” hands the birthday boy his card, and then just stands there. He should have been provided with some sort of script, dialogue, etc. from this company and it’s clear that he was not. He showed up with his dad, which makes sense given this kid might be 18. Jake understandably called him his photographer. Aaron had already told me he was his dad. (Huge red flag that Aaron does NOT have his performers’ best interests in mind.)
Jake had no idea what to do, at all, and was incredibly uncomfortable the entire time. One of the birthday boy’s favorite things to do is build with blocks, so I figured the birthday boy would want to share that with Spiderman. Jake sat down and nodded at every block he was handed before simply setting it down. We also had these spray cans so the kids could have ‘web-shooters.' I tried to hand Jake one and he would not take it.
Aaron, the business manager, is going to call me a ‘problem client.' Of course I have to be a Karen if I’m not entirely thrilled with his scam. He will take absolutely no responsibility for his ineptitude or for throwing his performer into a situation wholly unprepared.
The party was on 7/6 and is a bit of drive, I get that. That’s why I tipped well, even though I 100% overpaid for this ‘experience.’ Aaron was super aggressive from the start, a genuine hustler about every little thing. Telling me why 2 hours was so expensive as it is incredibly taxing on the performer (his words), so I say an hour would be fine. No change in price which is odd, so I ask about it and of course he has a dozen reasons why it’s the same price. I took a while to book because something just felt ‘off.'
I asked Jake for the photos from his photographer on July 12th (he was using his phone so I didn’t imagine there was much if any kind of editing going on to make it take any actual time) and didn’t receive a reply. Today, 7/18, I asked Aaron to reach out for me, and his response was that it was a long drive (nearly 2 weeks later?), and that I hadn’t responded to him when he sent “hope the party went well.,” and asked me to take a minute to leave a 5 star review. Not an honest one, mind you, a 5 star review.
This guy knows what he’s doing- ripping people off, both those purchasing and the performers as well. Jake was beyond worried about anything happening to the suit. The kids got so bored of just ‘hanging out’ with Spidey (he would respond to them, but never took any initiative himself) that they went to play with a water table outside. Jake wouldn’t even go outside at this point because of the water. I ended up telling him he could leave about twenty minutes early because of how awkward it all was. And that $1,000 suit Aaron uses to justify his spiel? Literally $50 on multiple costume sites. (I was a Costume Designer in San Diego and there is no way that suit cost over $100, nor should getting it wet be an issue given the material.)
I hate writing bad reviews, everyone has off days, etc., but this was such a scam from the very beginning. The only reason I am writing this review at all is in the hopes that it helps someone else, either people looking for a performer or people looking to work for this company.

VENDORS- NEVER USE THIS PERSON. Erica Deretz. Wow, and yet today she asked for photos of the event, from us. So we requested a review for a 4 1/2 hr car ride to help them. A troubled person obviously. Your welcome. VENDORS DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, avoid this person completely.
Who doesn't take photos of their event?? And then asks the vendor, who's usually alone?
I actually have nice photos, one of the many above and beyond we did. If so disappointed, why would someone want photos??? HMMM. think on that.
This was just OK we have had events in the past where we have hired characters in Spider-Man has been one of them. The Spider-Man we hired for our last event was doing flips and Rillian character this Spider-Man just stood around, waiting for constant direction. I had to constantly tell him what to do at all times really wasn’t overly engaging with the birthday boy had to give constant reminders of who the birthday boy was all in all for my next event, I will likely hire another Spider-Man. I really wasn’t impressed and most of the guests at my party were wondering the same thing it was really a subpar experience.

Unfortunately we knew this client would be a problem. We are the #1 Premier in NY Superhero & Santa group, always Top Performers with GigSalad and a 5* average with many reviews. We were the only ones offering to help her, but our 3 Spiderman were not available. We offered other heroes but it had to be Spiderman. She was distraught, so we went out and hired a 4th Spiderman, JUST FOR HER so the child would not be disappointed. This is the thanks we get. Our Spiderman says afterwards the child was thrilled, kids, all had a blast with our Spiderman. He presented a personalized birthday card, did Superhero training and offered storytelling. Posed for photos. That's a lot of activity, not standing around. She was supposed to do a Piñata and soccer at least. This is just a problem person that wouldn't even let our hero change there, that has never happened. A three hour round trip, gas & tolls & GigSalad fee expenses he paid. Your welcome.
Hulk made our grandson's day we highly recommend him

What an amazing event in one of Syracuse's nicest venues, the décor, staff, a long list all just 150% tops and professional.
We had a blast, a tremendous turnout of guests and they enjoyed every minute of the day.
The professional photographer was self sacrificing, sweet, courteous, did an amazing job and was totally accommodating to the guests and us. He took photos with their phones, and his own professional camera, acted as our escort, just can't say enough good about the photographer and the Host Tim.
You could tell all the guests were having a great day there and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

My son - and the rest of the three year olds at the event - have NOT stopped talking about Spider Man and Hulk being at our birthday party. The guys were communicative, friendly and did a great job engaging with the kids. It was a huge surprise for all, including my husband, and was a major highlight of the day. They played games with my son and helped smash the piñata! There were a few uneasy kids who hung back with their parents but even they had a positive experience and have been speaking happily about it since. Would recommend!

Everyone had such a great time, my son was starstruck and will never forget this day. Yeah so spiderman was so helpful and played with the kids, did anything they asked :) I'd say if your thinking about about having a superhero at a party, you won't be let down, 100percent worth it !

I hired both Superman and the Hulk to surprise my 4-year grandson at his birthday party recently and it was a big hit, all the kids enjoying meeting and having fun with both characters. Coordination with them in the scheduling process was easy and seamless, great communication and planning. They arrived early to be ready for the big surprise and also helped some of the more quiet, reserved kids loosen up and warm-up to them which was great to see. Highly recommended.

We Hired Spiderman for our 5 year Olds birthday party 🎉 & it was a GREAT SUCCESS! ALL the kids were excited for the surprise and I thought my son was going to cry 🤗 He played games, took pictures, stayed for the cake cutting! He really made Dominic's day!

This vendor canceled hours before party with no explanation or assistance with a backup plan. Extremely unprofessional, especially for a kids party since the kids were really excited about this and then had their hearts broken. I sent a message asking about alternatives and they didn't even respond to me. Will never trust this vendor again. I'm also still waiting for my refund.

we were very sorry this was the first and only time. As a college student unexpected requirements came forth, plus the campus had covid issues.
The party was a huge hit and all the kids were talking about it at my son's school when he was dropped off today. Spider-Man was on time and very professional and although shy at first my son and the other children warmed up to him quickly. Thank you so much for being there!

Spiderman came for a very special 5 year olds Birthday party. He was on time, his suit was very authentic, his personality was perfect for the character! Our Birthday boy was over the moon happy! The kids had a great time taking pictures with him and just hanging out with Spidey! Thank you so much you have no idea how much it meant to our little buddy! I would recommend and hire him again in a heartbeat! He even ran down the street when he left so the kids didn't see him get into his car. Just an amazing Spiderman!
Did a great job for a birthday parade. Great add on and surprise during this quarantine. Highly recommended!

Spiderman has a great costume. Needs guidance on a tradeshow floor as this is a little out of his typical element. Unfortunately, the traffic on the show floor was lighter than usual.
The Scarlet Spiderman did a great of communicating before the event, arrived as planned and did a wonderful job of entertaining everyone! Well worth the cost (reasonable) for the delight he brought a bunch of children!
