Fatima Hirsi is a freelance writer, poet, and educator based in Dallas/Fort Worth. If you are in need of a unique form of entertainment, Fatima can impress your guests with personalized poems created in minutes on her vintage Smith-Corona typewriter. It's like a caricature using words! How does it work?

1.) Your guest pick a topic or person to be the focus of the poem.
2.) They provide one truth about their relationship or idea of their topic.
3.) In about seven minutes, they receive an original poem typed on-the-spot.

Everything about the experience with Fatima will be memorable, from the moment when guests share their truth to the moment when she reads the words to them that they inspired. It's not uncommon for hugs to be given or tears to be shed! Poetry is able to create an intimacy uncommon in daily life between strangers. Fatima discovered poetry when introduced to limericks in the fourth grade. From there, she began writing and continued on a path that would have her as a featured poet and performer across Texas. She was featured in the Austin International Poetry Festival, the Austin Feminist Poetry Festival, Words Around Waco, and various venues throughout DFW. Her work can be read in Vagabonds, the anthology of the Austin International Poetry Festival, and the anthology Poem Your Heart Out, published by Words Dance Press. In addition to performing, she teaches poetry for an area nonprofit in north Texas schools, community centers, and shelters. Fatima hones her spontaneous poetry skills each weekend in Dallas, setting up on sidewalks throughout the city and writing poems for intrigued passersby.
