You didn't hire me as a Corporate Comedian. You asked for a "comical / motivational presentation." There's a BIG difference. One's a comedy show, and the other is an informative speech with some jokes. Why didn't you ask me to do my comedy show? You gave me specific instructions, over the phone & approved my talk on "Humor in the Workplace". After signing the Contract for 45 mins, you chose to cut the talk to 1/2 hour, then you sent an email just before the event saying this was for CE credits and I needed to start whenever the awards and cash prizes finished and keep going till 2pm. When I arrived, you thought it would "be funny" to have me begin at the back of the room. You didn't ask any of the other speakers that week to present from the back of the room. I guess I'm just special. Once the awards were raced through & cash prizes were handed out, everyone left. Big Surprise! The room was depleted to 40% it's original attendance. That 40%, due to your brilliant idea, turned to watch everyone leave through the 6 doors behind me, as I began my speech. Even your table left before I was introduced, save 1 person who insisted I not stand anywhere near her during my speech. The entire room mirrored the same "warmth". There wasn't a single person who wanted to be there. I told a couple stories and a few jokes, got a couple of giggles, but the majority of the room folded their arms and refused to respond to me, because there's no such thing as "Mandatory Fun". In 20 years of being in front of audiences I've never felt more hated by a group or more devalued by a client. Thank you for posting your very misguided rating. Your poor planning, inability to follow a simple contract or payment schedule, and your total disregard for the needs of your convention attendees should be shared with the Gig Salad community so other professionals will be wary of booking an event with you.
