I am a certified dog trainer, receiving my education through Companion Animal Sciences Institute. I teach group classes, am a member of the Pet Professional Guild, a CGC/STAR Puppy Evaluator, a Family Paws Parent Educator, and hold a BA in psychology with a minor in sociology.
My main focus is dog communication, bite prevention, and new parents with dogs. To that end, I have several presentations available, including "It Goes Without Saying: What Our Dogs are Trying to Tell Us" for parents and "How to Interact with Dogs" for children. Contact me for a complete list of topics. I have presented at several schools and other venues.

I wanted to be a trainer since I took my first class as a student in 1991. I enrolled in Companion Animal Sciences Institute, taking courses in evolution, learning, behavior, and training. I received my Dog Training Certification and later began assisting at CCSC until I became an instructor. I have a passion for studying evolution and communication in dogs and read any book and study I can, and considers how what I learn can be applied to training. I am a member of the Pet Professional Guild, a CGC/STAR Puppy trainer and evaluator, and a Family Paws Parent Education presenter. I have given several presentations to adults and children on behavior and bite prevention. I currently live in Columbia with my wife, daughters, and dog, Duncan.
All speaking engagements use a PowerPoint projection system. If one can not be provided, I can make arrangements to have one available with adequate notice.
My biggest influences are Dr. Patricia McConnell, Dr. Sophia Yin, and Sarah Kalnajs, although all my influences are too numerous to list here.
