I met Shyama at one of Ami Amore's shows in St. Louis a few years ago. From the get go, I was quite impressed with her phenomenal stage presence and the niche she was able to carve out in the fusion belly dance community. If you're looking for a unique performer that is sure to wow the crowd at your next event, or an instructor that really knows her stuff, I highly recommend Shyama.

Thanks so much Ami! I love being a part of your stellar shows and can't wait for more!
I was introduced to Shyama for dance instruction and I was amazed at how multi faceted her talents were! Terrific dance teacher, choreographer, performance artist-so organized and professional. Excellent coach who will motivate you to be the best you can be, while encouraging you to celebrate your authentic self. She is so wonderfully creative and inspiring. All the while giving you an incredible amount of support with the sweetest, most down to earth disposition. She really is one in a million and I am so looking forward to her continuing guidance and exciting future projects! Her performances are awe inspiring, you can’t take your eyes off of her.

Working with me, you can expect a professional, easy to work with and crowd-pleasing dancer and instructor. Metal music gets into your bones and, for Shyama, it went straight to her hips through fusion dance. She started out mesmerized by traditional fusion, but quickly innovated a style all her own. She focuses on using metal riffs to bring out the dark side of dance, pioneering the Metal Fusion style.
Shyama has carved a niche in the fusion community, becoming a crowd-wowing staple on both live and virtual stages! She regularly creates and participates in large-scale events, inspiring event-goers and participants everywhere she performs. She has studied extensively in the fusion style with top-tier instructors like Ariellah, Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Ashley Lopez, Michelle Sorenson, Silvia Salamanca, Belladonna, and many more! She is also a certified Level One teacher in Acushla's Belly Dance Blueprint method, and a certified Boho Blade Apprentice.
In the chaos of 2020, Shyama founded the dark fusion dance community, the Stygian Collective, which allows dancers from all over the world to connect, share, and grow together in a unique, supportive, and collaborative online platform that feels like a true family. With her growing international community at her back, Shyama took to the virtual stage to produce fully fledged gala performances and weekend festivals online for the world to enjoy.
Shyama is also a star instructor, conducting workshops on request, crafting live online classes, as well as hosting an online studio for instruction in her style. She is now also rolling out a comprehensive Stygian Certification Program providing structured online learning at each student's pace, with customized feedback to promote student growth and success in the belly dance world.
Shyama's "Stygian Style" is uniquely inspired by a blend of heavy music, strong emotions, strength, mythology, horror, fantasy, magic, and the works of her teachers, especially Ariellah, Michelle Sorenson, Ami Amoré, Acushla Mkrtschjan, and her fellows in the Stygian Collective.
With a massive repertoire that includes creative and emotional choreography, improvisation, sword and veil dance, and more, Shyama is as versatile as she is deeply versed in the intricacies of each style of performance.
For a sampling of Shyama’s incredible work, you can visit our social media pages and browse our site! Be prepared for a side of belly dance you’ve never seen before!
For performance, I require a safe space to change and perform with adequate lighting and clean floors. I have a small sound system but would appreciate the professional sound, and will need someone to push play!
For instruction, I will need the above but will provide and run my own sound. For big crowds or spaces, a microphone would be appreciated.
For any long event, I expect to be fed meals and provided with plenty of water!
