My wife and I got married on the beach in North Myrtle Beach in September. Carmen provided the steel drum music for our wedding and did a more than stellar job with everything. He was extremely friendly, personable, and easy to work with in the months leading up to our wedding. He was also easy to get ahold of by phone or text and very prompt in returning any voicemails. He was very open to play any music selections of our choice (he even played our song during our sand ceremony, an obscure Jack Johnson song, which to our astonishment, he already knew by heart). The setup of our beach wedding underwent a few changes since the tide was high, and Carmen worked very well with us and our wedding planners to adjust to the changes and figure out a slightly different location for his steel drum setup. Most importantly, his playing was top-notch and his timing was perfect for all the different changes and queues during the ceremony--extremely well-coordinated (as a drummer myself I know the difficulties of these things and Carmen nailed it). I cannot stress how much of a joy it was to work with Carmen. Even during our post-wedding photo session on the beach, I noticed Carmen waiting patiently at a distance, for we still had to pay him our remaining balance. It was a testament to the friendliness and outstanding service Carmen provides. Great music, great service, great guy.

He was on time. Set up in a timely manner. Was very professional in asking for instructions/guidelines. He was dressed to suit the occasion (community luau). Best and most importantly, his music mix was great. Everyone enjoyed the music and even his recorded music while he took a short break was great. I would recommend Carmen for any party that you are planning where you can take advantage of a great blend of music with a tropical/steel drum flair. His recorded background music made it sound as if there were three of four musicians. Great sound system, too. Everyone loved him!

Carmen, has excellent communication skills, accepted personal request, was prompt on his arrival,and was able to meet all requests during our wedding cocktail hour.

Carmen was absolutely great for our Local's Appreciation Day! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed listening to him on the East Coast's Longest Pier! Not one negative comment!! I can not describe the feeling I got when I heard him perform. It was so soothing and even exhilarating to be able to hear him play the steel drums all while playing over the ocean and hearing the waves crash behind us. Such fun entertainment! Carmen played during the cocktail hour at our wedding. Such a perfect addition to the evening on the inlet! Our guests enjoyed his music selection – ranging from classic island vibe to today’s hits. Carmen’s personality was relaxed, flexible and professionally fun! I am happy to write this review - because Carmen was a key element in making our wedding dinner/party a tremendous success! Before the event he worked with us to choose music that would be enjoyed by all the age groups at the wedding. Then he arrived early so he was completely set up and relaxed by the time the event began.
He played the steel drums (beautifully) during our dinner and then switched to DJ music for dancing. He was entergetic as he announced the bridal party - the special dances - and was able to fill the dance floor during the 'party' part of the reception.
Best of all - his attitude was terrific - he wanted to and did do everything within his power to make the bride/groom and guests happy, It was so lovely - having dinner and listening to the mello - beautiful music Carmen provided! I would highly recommend Carmen for all parties and if we ever have a need for a musician again while here at the beach - he will be our first choice!

Surf side groove arrived with plenty of time to set up, had professional equipment, and most of all was so skillful.
Everyone enjoyed the steel drum, it was a huge addition to our party. His prices are very reasonable and well worth it given his expertise and skill.
He was so good, many of our guests wanted his info for parties of their own.
I will def use him again for any party. He can play such a variety of music.

I have retained musician services from Surfside Groove on multiple occasions for youth camp instruction as well as soloists and bands for multiple concerts. Recently, we have used Surfside Groove for some arranging as well and have been very satisfied with the results and quick turn around. Carmen Bruno is a true professional, a master steel pan artist and an all around great guy. Highly recommend!
