Part stardust, part showgirl, Tanya has been honing her lifetime body of artistic work from a young age. After pursuing classical piano and opera, she discovered ballet, which consumed many years of her developmental period. Spending summers at prestigious and highly competitive schools such as San Francisco Ballet School and School of American Ballet (New York City), she blew into town at the age of 16 to study on scholarship at Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and knew she'd found her home. Since then, she has had many adventures, played in a band, earned a degree from the University of Washington, and become one of the most sought-after aerial performers in town. Now in her 10th year of aerial work, she loves the circus arts more than ever. It is the perfect medium to combine her amassed classical training with the elegance, joy, and freedom she imbues into her art.
Currently teaching at SANCA Seattle and training at Versatile Arts, she can also be found in residence at The Pink Door and Suite nightclub, as well as with USC Events, where parties draw up to 30,000 revelers. She has performed in Chicago with The Acrobatic Conundrum, where they performed original work at the first annual Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival. Upon her return, she joined the cast of The Atomic Bombshells as a permanent member, and is creating new work with them as well as being the aerial angel in Verlaine/McCann's production of the Land of the Sweets, the burlesque nutcracker at The Triple Door. She has performed at The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, where she competed for Best Debut.
In high demand around town, she has become a staple at the annual Moisture Festival, the Pacific Northwest’s largest display of interdisciplinary talent from around the globe. She has performed alongside Queensryche, the Rat City Rollergirls, appeared in late night cabarets at Teatro Zinzanni, and is a resident performer with Marxiano musical theater productions. Other highlights include working with Club Med resorts as a Circus Program Advisor and Guest Performer, where she has made appearances in locales such as Turks/Caicos islands and Ixtapa, Mexico. She has done a contract in Ireland, performing in the likes of castles and international art festivals with Fidget Feet Aerial Dance. Corporate clients have included: Microsoft, BMW, Carnival Cruiselines, The Detlef Schremf Foundation, Jameson's, Suncadia Resort, Aegis Living, Cadillac, Ookla, and The University of Oregon.
To see Tanya perform is to watch a world unfold where are things are possible, and light and shadow are both given their due.
