The 524

The 524 provides loud, fast-paced, and highly energetic performances guaranteed to get audiences out of their seat and onto their feet! Equally at home up on stage or out in the street, The 524 is perfect for concerts, corporate events, private parties, and more. The band can perform both amplified and acoustically, making it the perfect group for indoor or outdoor events, as well as occasions where power may not be readily available. The 524 is highly mobile, capable of changing location at a moment's notice and providing music sitting, standing, or on the move. The group's setlist is highly diverse and applicable in any situation, featuring both original music and covers from a wide array of genres and styles. It can be performed entirely instrumentally or featuring one of the group's two vocalists/rappers. Due to this overall versatility, performances can be specifically tailored to be suitable for any audience, regardless of age or sensibility.

The 524 is a 10-piece, contemporary-style brass band based out of San Diego, CA and operating throughout the American Southwest. The group seeks to provide its audiences with a quintessential taste of San Diego's vibrant local culture, while simultaneously paying homage to the rich New Orleans tradition from which the group can trace its lineage. Showcasing an idiosyncratic blend of classic and contemporary influences that draw heavily from both North American and Latin American musical convention, The 524 strives to present a uniquely "San Diegan" experience that, much like the city it calls home, exemplifies the vivacity and depth of the many cultures that define Southern California. Equally at home up on stage or out in the streets, the group is guaranteed to live up to its tagline: "Biggest. Baddest. Best."

Formed in 2023 by a group of Navy and Marine musicians, what initially began as a small group of friends making music in their off-duty hours quickly developed into one of San Diego's most up-and-coming musical acts. While following in the footsteps of such greats as the Youngblood Brass Band, No BS!, Lucky Chops, and others, The 524's distinctive synthesis of Funk, Soul, Jazz, Gospel, RnB, Rap, Rock, and Hip-Hop, as well as an equally expansive collection of Hispanic musical influences, coalesces into a sound that is solely their own. What's more, through its frequent collaborations with other local and national musicians the group aspires to further explore the capabilities of the genre, and potentially redefine the idea of brass bands as a whole.

The 524 is a ten-piece group consisting of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. We can play both acoustically and amplified, however in either case our performances will be loud. For the sake of our audiences it is recommended that we do not perform in small, enclosed areas.
