The AcaBellas are the University of Waterloo's fiercest and first ever all-female a cappella group. We love singing, performing, dancing, beatboxing, and having fun! While we're at it, we cover everything from overplayed pop songs to the most obscure of indie tracks. We also competed at the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella in 2016 and placed 3rd in the Central Region Quarterfinals. The AcaBellas are the University of Waterloo's first all-female a cappella group. Founded in 2009 by seven girls who just wanted to sing, the group has now grown to include as many as 20 members at a time, and was the first a cappella ensemble at Waterloo to truly incorporate choreography into their performances.
The AcaBellas aim to enrich the experience of the KW area through female a cappella music, with genres ranging from well-known pop songs to obscure indie tracks. They also promote skills development among members through their arranging, beatboxing, and choreography teams.
In 2016, the Bellas competed for the first time at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) and placed 3rd in the Central Quarterfinals.
