Hollie and Paul are laid back and love to interact with the crowd. They enjoy telling brief stories of why they chose to learn/write and perform the songs on their setlist. They have an expansive setlist, but could possibly learn songs for special events. Hollie is the lead singer and plays alto and soprano saxophones, and Paul plays guitar and uke, and sings back up vocals. Their music often includes solos (improvisation). Paul uses a looping pedal for harmonic support during his solos.
The Accentrix is a musical group from western North Carolina that consists of the core songwriting and recording members, Paul and Hollie, as well as other talented musicians that fill in instrumentation as the need arises for performances. Their music can be described as a folk/jazz/blues tinged rock that is acoustic and electric. They enjoy using their freedom as independent musicians to write music within their own parameters, and each song is unique and eclectic within its own right. All cover songs are played in the orginal key or key used by the original artist, to lend authenticity and to retain the original characteristics of the song.
Paul and Hollie met in 1996 in Charlotte after they both graduated from separate colleges with music degrees. Hollie started working as a manager at a music store where Paul was teaching guitar and bass lessons. They quickly became good friends, then got engaged shortly thereafter. They played an occasional wedding gig or jazz gig at hotels in the area but decided to create a rock band. They had so much fun playing gigs, writing and recording music, and interacting with like minded music lovers that it became a passion they could never stop pursuing! Since they are classically trained, they both also play in their community symphony with their oldest son. They both are currently public school music educators and enjoy spreading their lifelong love of music to their students!
We provide all PA, lights and mics/mic stands.
