THE BODARKS are “a porch-stompin’, fiddle-sawin’, bass-spankin’ hootenanny!,” says Lifestyle Frisco, with the rootsy sound of “ragtime, jug band, and Western swing…mixed with punk.” Though recently nominated as “Best Country Act in Dallas” (Ghosty Awards), their high-energy style appeals to a wider range of tastes than that genre suggests. Perfect for rustic and vintage events, they can scale up or down from a Duo to the "Full Hootenanny" for different venues and budgets. You can find plenty of live samples at their website, or on Youtube, and you'll see why The Bodarks have been likened to Old Crow Medicine Show and The Avett Brothers (KHYI 95.3FM).
Shelly and Jeff played at our wedding reception, and they were absolutely the best! They made our night perfect. I heard so many comments throughout the night about how great the band was. Everybody was singing along, dancing, and having a blast. We will definitely be going to see them play again. Thanks for a great time!

THE BODARKS are a high-energy “hootenanny” string band with fiddle, banjo, upright bass, washboard, and other traditional instruments - perfect entertainment for rustic-themed events, festivals, house parties, outdoor weddings and engagement parties, etc. They've been described as having "delightful harmonies that had the audience singing along to their songs as if it were their favorite karaoke jam" (Blitz Weekly). Selected as a “Shiner Rising Star” finalist in their first year by 95.3FM (Dallas), they were said to exhibit "all kinds of cool elements from bluegrass to ragtime that really connected with the crowd."
THE BODARKS' conversion of popular songs into a hoedown appeals to the interests of a diverse crowd. And their original music has earned them accolades from local and nationwide talent searches. In review of their first album, Buddy Magazine touted them as “a genre-creating string band…that's developed its own unique Americana music.” Since their inception in 2012, they have side-staged for popular country and rock acts such as Kansas, Pat Benatar, Wade Bowen, Gary P. Nunn, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
As a string band, they are flexible and affordable, allowing you to add/subtract members to suit your budget or venue.
