Price Range: $2,250 - $3,000
A full five piece gospel band with original songs that is sure to bring joy to the spirit and provide an evening of wonderful music and worship. Caleb Dennis has been a professional full time musician for the past 15 years.
Caleb Dennis is a guy a lot of you already know. He began touring across the nation with Bluegrass Gospel stalwarts The Sullivan Family when he was only 11 years old. It was about that time I met him and was immediately impressed with his musical abilities on a variety of instruments, as well as his passion for making great music.
A native of Walnut Hill, FL, Caleb started playing the fiddle at age 9. Since those early beginnings, he quickly added banjo, guitar, mandolin, dobro, piano, acoustic upright and electric bass to his long list of musical accomplishments.
Enoch and Margie Sullivan put Caleb to work on the fiddle first, but it wasn’t long before they asked him to take up a new instrument – the banjo.
“I had no idea how to play banjo when I switched from playing the fiddle with The Sullivan Family,” Caleb said. “Enoch would hum a part, making the different banjo sounds with his mouth, and I would copy those sounds to learn the way he wanted the banjo played.”
The teaching method may have been a little unorthodox, but you can’t argue with success. Caleb turned into a top-notch banjo picker. Whatever instrument he picks up, he’s always a joy to hear.
I think back to the days I listened to Caleb picking at the big Rebel Park shows I used to hold in Marthaville, LA, and it does not surprise me he has come so far in such a short few years. With lots of good experience playing places like Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, and Charlie Waller’s Grand Ole Gospel Reunion in Greenville, SC, Caleb knows how to please his audience.
Far and above his many talents, Caleb’s wisdom shines through in his humble approach to making music: “I feel Gospel music should portray God’s love and His mercy for each and every one of us. Through each song, I want to let others know how much our Heavenly Father loves and cares for us. This is His music, not mine.”
With an attitude like that, I feel sure we’ll be enjoying the music of Caleb Dennis for years to come.
