The Conjurer of Cheap Tricks

You will see expert level sleight of hand with cards, coins, and many other props as I stroll between your guests and magick their brains out. Here is a sampling of effects from my close up/ strolling kit.

My Close Up/ Strolling Magic Routines include the following but are not limited to:

The 4 card/ 3 card Monte - A classic routine that one would find in the streets of New York City. Commonly referred to as follow the red queen, chase the ace, and many other things. I show you 3 blank cards and a fourth card with a 3 on it. Your job is to follow the three. However, it mysteriously moves from my hand to an unknown location in varying degrees of difficulty. The ending will have you wandering if what you saw was real....or not.

Coins Across or Moving the Coins Magically from One Area to Another for short. I introduce six coins. Three on one side, three on the other side. With some expert level slight of hand, the coins begin to move from one side to the other. Warning - even when I show you the secret - which I will show you in the trick how its done - you will still not believe it. The trick ends with the final coin being in a place where the spectator least expects it.

Cups and Balls - A classic of the close up magician. I go through a history of this incredible effect. It involves three cups and three balls. The balls appear and disappear under the cups in varying and impossible manners. It is pure chaos.

Sleight of Hand, Misdirection, Mirroring, and the Kicker. The are the four tenants of magic. This effect has four Chinese coins ( which have holes in the center) securely on a red ribbon. Through varying stages of the tenants of magic, I mysteriously pull the coins off. One at a time. The kicker is when I take off the final coin in the most impossible way I could think of.

My hour show is filled with comedy and magic including the following routines but are not limited to just these effects.

The Card Trick to End All Card Tricks or Card Trick for short - is a trick where I have a spectator sign a card, it gets lost into the deck and I lose the card. Seriously I lose the card. So I move on to another effect with the end of that effect being their previously signed card from the first effect.

The Ancient Mystery of the Chinese Linking Rings - 4 separate and solid rings mysteriously link and unlink at the magicians command. This is a classic in magic and mine involves getting a spectator to help me perform the effect. I begin to teach how the trick works and no matter how hard I try....the spectator succeeds??

The Professor's Nightmare - A rope routine that turns your perception of reality on itself. It begins with a single and solid rope that is cut and restored a couple of times. Eventually we wind up with three different sized pieces that magically become the same size and the magic gets more intense from there.

The Comedy Prediction act - I am not a mind reader!! But with Statistics, I can make predictions about events in the near future!! This is a comedy prediction routine that will have you rolling with laughter.

The Teleportation Device!!! - a trick so secret you have to hire me to find out what it is....warning...There may be a little bit of fire....and comedy.

I am a native Jackson-villain. (I think that's right...at least I think it makes me sound pretty cool.) I have lived here for 37 years. So supporting me supports local artists!!!
I have been performing magic professionally in some capacity since I was 20 years old. I started with birthday parties for friends and family eventually bringing magic to the masses. I branched out to different things like stage shows, illusions, and even side show acts. However, to quote a friend of mine, " Simple things done well are what hit hard." - Andrew Ratliff. I live by this saying now. I even tailor my magic to it.
I found my passion in Street Performing, Parlor magic, and Close up magic. This more intimate setting allows me to connect with the audience better. I feel like the stage doesn't allow a good connection between magician and audience. I realize that it is people that help my effects better. I never know what I am going to get from each performance. People, not the magician, are the ones that make the show memorable. At least in my opinion.
I call myself the Conjurer of Cheap Tricks for a couple of reasons.
1. I really like The Lord of the Rings series. There is one scene where Gandalf says to Bilbo, " Bilbo Baggins, Do not take me for some Conjurer of Cheap Tricks!!!" Well....I am a Conjurer of Cheap Tricks. Ergo, the name.
2. It also fits my philosophy. My party show, fits in your living room. I pack small but the effects I bring are hard hitting. I just feel you shouldn't have to make extra space just for me.
