What to Expect
We present magic in a fun/fresh way that is perfect for adults as well as kids, and we have a breadth of skills sets that allow for flexible performances, which typically fall into one of these two categories:
Strolling Magic - Perfect for large gatherings where guests are mingling, perhaps at a happy hour, banquet, or private party. We stroll around the party, separately or together, presenting engaging "close-up" magic with cards, coins, and other props. This is a great social ice breaker to get guests mingling/laughing while enjoying top quality sleight-of-hand magic. Depending on the scale of the event, we have been hired for 1-3 hours, doing short 5-10 minutes sets for small groups at a time.
Stage Magic - Perfect for audiences of all sizes, from a private residence to a large auditorium. Our stage show includes larger scale magical illusions and mind blowing mentalism that we honed over the course of several years at the Magic Castle. For larger events we incorporate music for added effect, creating one-of-a-kind experience that leave guests dazzled, inspired, and laughing. The shows are highly interactive and engaging, and we love tailoring it to the specific occasion.
We have created memorable experiences for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, comedy clubs, cruise shows, and everything in between. Reach out any time and we can craft the perfect show for you.
About
Prepare to travel back in time, down the rabbit hole, and through your mind...
The Cosmic Romantics are an award-winning magic/comedy duo that recently relocated from Los Angeles (where they regularly headlined the world famous Magic Castle) to the Chicago suburbs. They met in LA's variety arts scene in 2017. At the time Elizabeth was running a monthly show at The Edison down town and Eric was running a show at Three Clubs in Hollywood. They were friends for several years, until teaming up for a show in 2022... that show blossomed into a romance, as these things sometimes go. On the season 10 premiere of Penn & Teller: Fool Us, they vowed to get married if they fooled the legendary duo. As luck would have it, they did! Shortly after that episode was released, Eric proposed in the middle of a performance at the Mayflower Club in Los Angeles. As Elizabeth pulled a string of needles out of Eric's mouth (an old Houdini classic), she was surprised to find a ring dangling from the end of the thread. And the rest is history.
Together The Cosmic Romantics blend elements of mentalism, sleight-of-hand, music, and juggling, creating a vaudeville-inspired style that is both nostalgic and refreshingly original. Their high energy family friendly show is perfect for all settings, large or small, from cruise ships to your living room, from corporate events to birthday parties. They have performed at Chicago Magic Lounge, House of Blues, Comedy Store, Second City, and UCB; for private clients such as Google and U.S. Bank; their work has been featured on Netflix, The CW, Buzzfeed, Blippi, Disney Channel, TBS Just For Laughs, and at the Sundance Film Festival; and they have earned rave reviews in the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and The Washington Post.
Individually, Elizabeth is one of the most sought after entertainers in the variety world, performing her own vintage blend of magic and music at venues around the country. You can see Elizabeth in Netflix's emmy-winning children's show Ada Twist, Scientist, the YouTube sensation Cocomelon, or the feature film Marvelous and the Black Hole, an official selection at Sundance Film Festival.
Eric "Thirstin" Siegel has consulted for the Disney Channel and Las Vegas headliners. The Chicago Tribune praised his work as "pushing the boundaries of long form storytelling," and the L.A. times dubbed him a "petulant Lou Reed." He has performed original work at Second City, Sketch Fest NYC, and the TBS Just for Laughs Festival, as well as iO Chicago where he won multiple Del Awards including one for best written show.
When Eric met Elizabeth, it was love at first sleight.
Additional Booking Notes
For strolling magic and small scale parlor/stage shows, our requirements are minimal if anything.
For larger stage events we try to include music cues which we can control directly, or have a tech person oversee. Light cues are always nice but never required. For sound, we have lav mics that can work with most any speaker system, and we are happy to use headset mics as well, if provided.
For strolling magic at events with a particularly loud environment, we have portable wireless voice amplifiers that we can bring. These simply hang around our neck as we work.
Influences & Inspiration
Our magic is inspired by old vaudevillian legends that combined a variety of skill sets for maximalist entertainment. We also love comedy duos like Nichols and May and of course Lucy and Ricky, for the incredible comedy they created through great scripting and razor sharp comedic delivery. In the world of magic, we are inspired by David Blaine for how he reclaimed the art form with street magic, Ricky Jay and Derek DelGaudio for raising the craft to high art, Diana Zimmerman for breaking barriers and creating whimsical television with her talents, and finally Pop Haydn (formerly Whit Haydn) for bringing character and hilarity to classic routines.
