Rokey Suleman is an election administrator who has worked in the United States and abroad and has lived to tell the tales. Terrorism, fraud, democracy growing and dying...he has seen it all. Rokey gives a dynamic talk focusing on democracy and elections around the world. His experiences in Egypt, Russia, Nepal, Georgia, Mongolia, Montenegro and Afghanistan as well as his multiple positions as a local and state election administrator in the United States give his audience a unique insight into what people sacrifice in order to vote. A career that nearly cost him his life gives the listener a renewed respect for voting and democracy.
We asked Rokey to join our Diversity Leadership Team for a lecture on the challenges and differences in the democratic voting process around the globe. Our group was completing enthralled by Rokey's insight and narratives concerning the obstacles that folks around the world encounter when trying to make their voices heard. His experiences were beneficial to spark discussion about our own country's challenges and the strife between individuals and groups with opposing philosophies. Rokey added a perspective and framework to our event that enriched the experience for all.
Rokey was invited to speak to our statewide association for election officials in Tennessee and he did a fabulous job! His experiences in the election business both in the U.S. and abroad are impressive and his stories are very inspiring. Though people may take their privilege of voting for granted, he reminds you of the sacrifices that so many make for the opportunity of voting and the work ethic that election officials undertake to keep elections honest and fair. You will not be disappointed to invite him to be your next event speaker!
The story of Rokey's personal and professional life have coalesced in away that impacts every American today. His tale about his experiences running elections in both the US and abroad will strike a chord with anyone who cares about our democracy. His personal, engaging and dynamic presentation will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you or your organization are interested in what makes America such a wonderful place to live in, then you need to hear what Rokey has to say. I highly recommend "The Election Wanderer."
