The Fell Swoop is an 8-piece band that gets audiences dancing by blending tight and funky rhythms, blazing horn lines and soaring vocals into tasty, funky pop music. These sparkle clad San Franciscans crank out classic hits and original jams to enhance corporate evens, weddings, birthdays, B-Mitzvahs, picnics in the park, you name it. They've been known to shape shift into a "2nd line" style marching outfit as well.
Often powered by battery amps and a suitcase drum kit, they've been known to create dance parties right on the sidewalks of the Mission district. They took their music on the road to 2018's SXSW festival in Austin, and plan on releasing an EP in the coming months.

I was born and raised in rural New England on a dusty road. I remember autumn and winter mornings, waking up to the sound of jazz radio and a fire crackling away, splintered sunlight peeking through the full spectrum of vibrant leaves.
Throughout the day I would hear the favorites of my family’s record collection showcasing blues, soul, funk and rock n’ roll. There wasn’t a Christmas without James Brown’s Funky Christmas. Their wasn’t a summer without Led Belly blasting through the speakers over our revving ‘54 Chevy Bel Air as we cruised the back roads. When my parents weren’t home I could crank up the Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers and Yes. All this diverse music exposure and an enchanting landscape made for quite an inspirational environment. I had the good fortune to attend New Orleans Jazz Fest in 2004 and 2005 when I was fifteen and sixteen, respectively. This had an indelible impression upon my young sponge like mind, my virgin ears and eventually my musical taste.
It was fourth grade. I was nine years old and an energetic young lad, constantly moving, tapping, talking, running or yelling. I wasn’t as tame as my classmates and not nearly as submissive. So when it came time to choose which instrument we wanted to study I was given percussion by default (despite my earnest expression to play saxophone). To no surprise I was joined by all the other unruly and otherwise mischievous boys in my class. My saxophone plea wasn’t taken so seriously.
I lasted about a month or two in the school band before I got booted. I had seen Don Henley of the Eagles in concert using his drumstick backwards (the fatter end being played on the snare drum). I thought it was a brilliant idea, the bandleader did not.
However that didn’t stop me and it was that year that I received my first drum set for Christmas. Coincidentally my brother got his first guitar. Can you say family band?
I quickly took to the drums without any formal lessons and began to mimic the backbeats of all my favorite songs. About four years later at the age of thirteen I began formally studying drums and joined the high school band my sophomore year. I went on to play in the jazz, marching and concert bands and even won the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award my senior year.
I had toy guitars as a youngster and my mother even had her old guitar around the house, though she rarely played. The rockstar attitude formed early on but playing didn't come till later. At the age of twelve I picked up an acoustic guitar again, took one lesson and decided to teach myself on an electric - I wanted to rock. At the age of fourteen I began to incorporate bass guitar into my practice. By sixteen I was meddling with singing, songwriting and banging on a piano.
Throughout my formative years I played in all kinds of bands: punk, rock n’ roll, metal, funk, acoustic alternative, jam and blues. I began to carve out my own voice and style in the vein of funk/soul/rock. I love anything that grooves hard, is colorful and expressive with a nod to the free feeling movement of jazz.
After graduating high school I moved to Providence RI to pursue a degree in digital recording arts with a focus on audio production. I began interning in studios and working sound and video for live events to hone my production skills, all the while playing music and refining my musical skills as well.
In May of 2015 I moved across the country to the San Francisco Bay Area to further pursue my career in a more diverse and rich music scene. I currently live in Novato, work as an A/V Technician in Sausalito, freelance as graphic designer and videographer, play as a main stay in two bands and field gigs throughout the Bay Area.
My approach to any musical situation has always been one of humility and reverence. I believe there is no room for ego and I strive to play for and serve the song at hand. I enjoy following the direction of a creative band leader as well leading myself and my own ensembles as well.
I look forward to collaborating, connecting and networking with industry professionals as well as providing my services to enhance your production!
