JOHN WASHBURN (vocals, sax, harmonica)
A southern California native who began formally singing show tunes in his junior high and high school choirs. From an early age, he was exposed to the jazz and blues musicians of LA's thriving Central avenue music scene by a family housekeeper, whose husband was a professional drummer. He picked up the harmonica and sax and at age 19, performed his first pro gig with a young blues band at a regional Rock and Blues festival in El Monte.During the early 70's, while attending art school in San Francisco, he formed a Rock band with a classmate and played numerous clubs and casuals throughout the bay area. He also could be found jamming with members of Boz Skaggs' band and fellow schoolmates, the (link hidden)ving to Santa Barbara in 1975, he participated in some original and cover bands including Greased Lightning and 60's hit makers' the Standells. Both bands were quite popular, locally.
In the 1980's, having returned to the Pasadena area, John was involved with local garage band heroes, Snotty Scotty and the Hankies. His honkin' sax was frequently part of this legendary and still active band in that decade. He also fronted a soul outfit with some English expatriates doing Stax and Soul covers, becoming a very effective soul and blues vocalist.
In the 90's and into the millenium, he formed and performed around So Cal with Blues outfits; the Gems, the Winning Hand Blues Band and most recently, the Fortunate Few.
DOUG MARCUM (guitar, vocals)
Doug was born and raised in Northern CA's Humbolt County and was barely a teen when he started playing guitar professionally. It wasn't much later that he was performing with some of the best rock and funk bands around the Eureka area. While studying music in college, Doug learned piano and cello. He also studied jazz theory with legendary sax player, Don Sheridan. In the late 70's early 80's, Doug played through out No Cal's club circuit in various bands and learned record engineering as well. After moving to Los Angeles in the mid 80's., he played on commercials and did an 8 year stint in the house orchestra at a posh, private restaurant in Hollywood. Through the years, he has been associated in different projects with members of Tower of Power, America, Robin Trower, Gypsy and others. Besides becoming the guitarist in the Fortunate Few, Doug also has an ongoing commercial recording project of Latin jazz called Nightbyrd. They're currently working on their third release

GLENN BASSETT (bass, vocals)
Born in Hollywood, Glenn began his musical career on piano as a youngster. Along the way, he also learned guitar, flute and soprano sax… but the bass guitar is where he found he could best put his natural feel to use. His earliest influences were surf music, psychedelic rock, followed by Motown, funk, and of course The Beatles. Later his developing years would find him playing with and along side bands and people who would become known around the world while playing every major venue in the region. Most recently, Glenn played bass for eight years in the highly successfull big band, Stone Soul doing Mowtown, Stax and other popular R&B in casinos and night clubs from San Diego to San Francisco. After a year's hiatus, he joined the Fortunate Few.
