More than a bluegrass cover band, The Grassifieds blend fresh, original bluegrass songs written in the traditional style with your favorite standards. The Grassifieds support their exceptional vocal harmonies with award-winning instrumental performances. We take pride in our professionalism.
These guys are awesome musicians and singers with an authentic bluegrass sound. They accommodated our setup and worked easily with the events of the evening. Love the stand up bass!!!!!
The Grassifieds provided us with a wonderful night of entertainment and music at our annual banquet. They were the perfect fit for what we wanted and everyone loved their music. I would highly recommend them for any event. We look forward to their music next year for our next banquet!!
Jim Grubbs has been a broadcaster for The Bluegrass Jamboree for several years now. He always presents himself in a professional manner and is knowledgeable about the music he plays. His positive outlook has made him a wonderful asset to the team of broadcasters.
Response from The Grassifieds:
Thank you, Annette Grady! Those skills map directly to the role of emcee. In fact, I learned much of what I use in broadcasting by serving as emcee onstage with The Grassifieds over the past 18 years. Looking forward to continued service to your listeners on TheBluegrassJamboree.com .
The Grassifieds played for our family chicken stew in October! They did a wonderful job and everyone enjoyed their music and bragged on how good they were! They even took requests! Very talented group and I am hoping to have them back again next year!
Response from The Grassifieds:
Thank you so much for your encouraging review! It was a pleasure to perform for your family and friends, and we are very happy you were entertained. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
The Grassifieds have performed at my sold out venues. They are always dependable, dress nice and give the audience a great show. Their cost is affordable and is well worth the money. I endorse The Grassifieds as a band to book.
Response from The Grassifieds:
Always a pleasure, Lorraine! We appreciate the review!

The Grassifieds deliver family-friendly live performances of traditional bluegrass music with a dash of classic country and bluegrass gospel in the mix. We pride ourselves in our professionalism before, during, and after the show - we seek to make the jobs of the event planner, sound engineer, and even the audience as comfortable as possible by going above and beyond to communicate effectively. We can dial up the energy to whatever level is appropriate for the occasion - be it low-key background music, an opening act, or the main attraction. We can provide our own sound system and engineering if necessary for modest indoor or outdoor venues, or we can work with your sound system to provide a performance at the peak of its capability.
Here's what the 2023 IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Greg Blake said about The Grassifieds' latest original single "Don't Tell Me You Lied":
“Bluegrass vocals and harmonies have their foundation in the similar, close tonal textures that families
singing together provided - especially, “brother duets”. Greg and Joel Barnett (of the band, The Grassifieds)
are more than adequately representing that tradition in the band’s new single (also written by Joel)! It’s a
spritely-moving tune that will get your foot to tappin’ … but it’s your ears that will really enjoy the vocal
blend that only “blood” can provide!” – Greg Blake
The Grassifieds were formed in 2006 in Walkertown, NC by a group of friends who shared a love of traditional bluegrass music. Brothers Greg and Joel Barnett "inherited" that love from their mother's side of the family, as their uncles performed in the pioneering band The Church Brothers and the Blue Ridge Ramblers in the late 1940's/early 1950's. Joined by Jim Grubbs, Pete Wright, Jerry Martin, and Amanda Hinds, The Grassifieds have performed all over the Carolinas, Virginia, and Alabama. Amanda has recently departed the band for extended maternity leave; she is replaced by veteran fiddler Franklin Nifong in 2023. The Grassifieds write and perform many original songs in the traditional style, in addition to covering old favorites. Their debut album "What We Are" spent significant time on the AirPlay Direct and The Bluegrass Jamboree album charts in 2020-21, and they are currently completing their second album for release in 2024. Their music may be found on all major streaming platforms.
The Grassifieds are typically a six-piece band with acoustic instruments: guitar, bass, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo. We prefer individual microphones but can supplement your system if it has sufficient input capacity (48v phantom power required). When we provide our own sound system, we supply everything - all we require is 120V AC power. Lighting is generally provided by the venues we play, but we can support private outdoor events with our own lighting and band tent (shade) if necessary.
