Having hired musicians before, I found the GigSalad process to be sort of meh... Most of the referred musicians didn't seem to be a fit.
After interviewing the individual musicians and even music groups that were suggested by GigSalad, Janelle seemed to be the best fit. Little did I know how much of a fit she'd actually be. I shared a few hours of Spotify music, so Janelle would understand what we were hoping to hear. As I updated the Spotify playlist, Janelle shared that some of the songs were already added to her repertoire, as they seemed to fit the styles I suggested. That was awesome.
Within three weeks of the event, I had to change the venue, as the original location decided they didn't want a musician. So, we moved to the new venue and Janelle committed to the change without a hitch. What a sense of relief that I didn't have to start over!
Janelle arrived an hour early, played a 2 hour set, and oh my god... She was wonderful. She has a melodic and strong voice. We found ourselves singing along and at some point, I chose to stop singing along and just listen to how well she performed. I was so pleased, I tipped her almost 40%.
I discovered she just relocated from another town and this was her first STL gig. She's a wonderful find and I WILL be using her again.

Janelle Pierce holds a B.A. in Vocal Performance from St. Mary's University. Many have referred to her as a "musical prodigy" due to her passion for music at a very young age. Her instruments include: piano, violin, guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, and mandolin.
Janelle holds ten years’ experience as a musical instructor. From one on one to group settings, she is able to take any level of student, and guide them on their path towards musicianship.
In addition to her musical talents, Janelle also studied acting in her college years, and has a twelve year background in dance styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary. She has choreographed routines for state championship holding choirs, school events and even for private events such as quinceañera court dances.
