What to Expect
We normally perform in black and white, coat and tie. Our presentation is professional, in the classical tradition. We perform arrangements of familiar classical works, as well as popular and jazz pieces, as well as a few original tunes. (check out the mp3)
About
The Kansas City Saxophone Quartet is comprised of Nick May (M.M. University of Kansas), Megan Sebastian (D.M.A. University of Texas at Austin), Zak Pischnotte (D.M.A. University of Kansas), and Todd Wilkinson (D.M.A. University of Kansas). We live and work in the Kansas City area, but are available to travel. We generally perform in Black and White, Coat and Tie. We won't need much performance space, just enough four chairs and music stands, and normally amplification is not necessary. We will need a cover if performing outdoors. We can perform familiar classical, light pop favorites, and jazz. Typically we will perform 45 minutes and take a 15-minute break, but we can adjust as needed.
Additional Booking Notes
In general, lighting isn't usually much of a problem, and we have our stand lights. If performing outside we need a cover to protect us and our instruments from sun and rain. Usually, amplification is unnecessary.
Set List
Please inquire for the set list, as we will customize our performance for each event.
Influences & Inspiration
We are steeped in the Saxophone Quartet tradition, so much of our repertoire stems from the Twentieth Century French school of composers. As well we have many modern works by American composers. Too many to list here. We play arrangements of the standard classical fare, including works by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, and even Beethoven.
Setup Requirements
Staging area should be large to accommodate four chairs and music stand. Approximately 10' x 10.'
