Like a tree born from the dank organic forest soil The Northside Ramblers originate from the campfires and social scene of Bethel, Greenwood, and Woodstock, Maine. What began as sing-along's and wild smokey fire-lit improvisations evolved into a band and then continued to form as dozens of original songs written by Brian and Bryon. Add rock solid drummer Brandon LeCours as well as prodigy soloist and regional sensation 18 year old Kale Churchill, and you will understand why you won't want to miss an opportunity to listen to and enter the Rambler's world!
Favorite venues include Sunday River Festivals, The Matterhorn Ski Bar, The Funky Red Barn, and the lovable Mill Hill Inn.

The Northside Ramblers consist of two founding members, Bryon Harris (Bass/Vocals) and Brian Lenberg (Guitar/Vocals).
Currently the ramblers are playing as a flexible 4 piece band. You may find them playing as a duo, trio, or more depending on the venue.
The Ramblers first started jamming at house parties and around firepits in the foothills of the Western Mountains of Maine. Soon after they decided to take their show on the road and began playing at local venues such as The Mill Hill Inn in Bethel and The Local Hub in Greenwood.
The Northside Ramblers have also been known to ramble to venues such as:
Mt. Abram Ski Resort
Bethel Commons (Bethel Harvest Fest, Mollyockett Days)
North Peak Lodge @ Sunday River
The Phoenix @ Sunday River
Skiesta @ Sunday River
Sunday River Events such as The Great Tailgate and Fall Fest
Matterhorn Ski Bar
The Funky Red Barn
and private parties and weddings...
Brian Lenberg's guitar playing style is a smooth organic blend of both the classic and modern american singer song writer traditions. Brian has styled pleasing vocals to match his confident strumming and is rooted heavily in folk, rock, reggae, blues, jam and traditional guitar playing with elements of funk and jazz adding to his buffet of influences. A playful intuition informs his improvised guitar progressions, opening the door for him to write interesting and original music. His writing explores various themes resonating with the essential koans of our everyday lives; love, loss, discontent, forgiveness and being present. He first picked up a guitar as a teen where he learned the ropes of band life with various small projects as well as in high school choir. In his free time you'll find him skiing or working at Sunday River, or maybe snacking at the Local Hub.
Bryon Harris's bass playing spans across two instruments; an upright Strunal Carved Top Czec Bass from the 90's as well as an electric fretless Fender bass. Similarly his playing style is rooted in echos of the two basses. The big upright bass brings with it music based in jazz and classical studies, ear training, and a meditative practice regimen. On the other hand the fretless electric bass brings with it the fun, easy, expressiveness of blues music and jam rock. Each element has it's time and place to help offer a rich array of musical options. Bryon cut his teeth playing for half a decade in the Flat 5 String Band in Oregon and has studied with a number of notable private music instructors. His writing spans from explorations of fantastic or sympathetic characters to reflections on the nature and rhythms of humanity. Bryon also enjoys professional disc golf, various backwoods projects and since he and Brian are neighbors, walking to and from band practice.
Kale Churchill's gutiar playing will blow your mind. Ever since Kale was born music has been a huge part of his life. During his 17 years of living he has taken ten consecutive years of Piano lessons starting at age seven, and has picked up Bass, Saxophone, Guitar and Mandolin along the way. Kale has played in many bands and with many artists including Jordan Kaulback, Johnny Crashed and the Rednecks, The Northside Ramblers, and has been playing solo and with his younger brother since a young age. Improvisation is a key element to Kale's style, for nearly half of what he plays is made up on the spot. His influences range from a wide variety of Genres, from Jazz, Blues, Soul, Funk, Latin, Bluegrass and Country, to Rock and Psychedelic Jam music. Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead have made a huge impact on his life as a whole, as well Trey Anastasio and the members of Phish. Other notable influences include Carlos Santana, The Allman Brothers Band, Django Reinhardt, Derek Trucks, Jimmy Herring, B.B. King, Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, David Grisman, John Coltrane, Clarence "Pinetop" Smith, Brent Mydland, Keith Godchaux, Page McConnell, Bob Marley, Frank Zappa, Otis Grove, Baby Huey, Buddy Miles, Lettuce, Peter Tosh, and Bob Dylan. Kale aspires to continue his musical journey through college. On his free time Kale enjoys Skateboarding & Snowboarding, hiking through the woods, going to shows/festivals, and Farming.
Brandon LeCours' percussion style is a fast paced pop rock style, mixed with classical tones to provide a unique experience on every tune. His ability to both "go for it" and "lay back" allow for flexibility in both songwriting and covering various styles of music. He picked up his first snare drum at the age of 10. The next year he learned to play the whole kit and has never gone back. Though all of his training came from High School Band, he has learned music isn't just something you read off a page. It comes from the heart. In his free time you might find him skiing and/or working at Sunday River, or at his home playing video games.
We have all of our own sound equipment and take roughly 45 minutes to set up. If the venue houses it's own equipment, even better! We can set up within 30 minutes.
