Overview
The Original Mixed Company is an oldies band specializing in Doo-Wop, Motown, Soul, R&B, and Gospel from the 40's through the 70's. We perform a cappella or with a band, depending on the event. The group has been together for more than 35 years. We have played throughout the Northeast, at Studio 54 and many other night clubs, concerts, and private functions. We've been on CBS-FM and NPR as well as local TV programs, and even toured England. We have opened for many national acts including The Drifters, The Marvelettes, The Brooklyn Bridge, The Platters, Earl Lewis and the Channels, The Jive Five, The Exciters, The Skyliners, and The Coasters. And now we're ready to sing and play for YOU!

This past Saturday night, my wife and I hosted a 70th bday party for me (Jim). We had a tent at the house and BBQ for dinner. The Original Mixed Company kicked the entertainment off for the 45 guests in attendance as dinner ended.
The age range of the guests were from 23 to 95 years old and ALL folks were tapping their toes and singing along to the songs they knew. Many got up to dance.
The band had energy and personality and kept the crowd engaged for two hours. They are great guys and their love of the music, playing and tight harmony made the evening a great memory for everyone.
The gentleman were amazing. Very professional, accommodating and talented. I would hire them again in a second!

My wife and I are pretty big fans of doo woop music. For her birthday I planned on having a doo woo wop group serenade her in the park where I proposed. I found The Original Mixed Company on gig salad and am so very glad I did.
Andy and I remained in contact on and off for about a month before the big day. Andy is a very nice guy, and not only pitched some cool ideas to me, but was open to my suggestions as well.
Their performance, and the experience overall, went much better than expected. These guys are seriously talented, their harmonies on point, and the energy they brought was just so uplifting. I sat beside my wife on a park bench while the group did their thing, and so many people stopped in their tracks, recording with their phones, smiling, and some dancing to the beautiful nostalgic harmonies.
I would recommend The Original Mixed Company in a heartbeat to anyone who is looking for a professional, capable group of singers for occasions of any kind.

The Original Mixed Company was a delight and made for a perfect night for my parents 50s era anniversary party. The group was talented, professional and very accommodating and even learned a favorite song to sing for my daughter that night. Andy was on top of the booking and a pleasure to work with during the booking phase.

Thank you Justin, for your great review. We had a blast as well. Watching three generations party and dance to our singing made it all worthwhile.
We had the best experience with The Original Mixed Company. From a very last minute booking on my part, the group was fantastic and flexible. My parents 50th Wedding Anniversary in Manhattan was made extra special with their serenade in Central Park. They sang all of the songs my parents love!!!!

The Original Mixed Company was the hit of The Morris Animal Refuge's Fur Ball!
The Fur Ball is our signature fund raising event. This year the Ball was a 1950's prom theme. The Original Mixed Company was our lead act. Their harmony and singing was superb! Everyone who attended the Ball loved them. They are professional and kind as well as being a great Doo Wop group!

Hi Anne, Thank you so much for your great review. We had a wonderful time in Philadelphia. The event was very well organized, the facility was all we could ask for and you, the DJ and staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. It was a pleasure to perform for such a worthy cause and fun-filled event.
This group was phenomenal! Great to work with. They performed at my daughter's wedding. I had requested a couple of songs, very meaningful to my daughter. They timed everything, so as she was walking in, they sang these songs. It made the moment. Couldn't have asked for more. What a night. Thank you to The Original Mixed Company and Andy in particular for his hard work in putting this all together.

We hired the group to sing at a 90th birthday party for an amazing young NYC lady named Joy!. I was so amazed at how professional they were- calling ahead, planning exactly what we wanted and when. The party was in a small apartment and was packed with people. When the group entered singing, there was a hush over the room. They sang directly to her and her face just glowed. They were perfectly on key and sang so naturally in harmony that we felt like we knew them like a long lost friend! The whole room was smiling and taping them on their phones. There were people of all different ages and different ethnicities but everybody was smiling, singing and clapping. I couldn't have asked for more!! Thank you to all in the group.

It was my sister's birthday party and I wanted to surprise her with some music she grew up with. I found The Original Mixed Company on GigSalad. The group was perfect for the occasion. Reliable, personable, great music. Everyone at the party came up to me to say how much they enjoyed the group, to ask where I found it. So I spread the word. GigSalad and The Original Mixed Company were a great combination. I am happy to recommend both.

We are so very glad to hear that Norman Pearlstine was pleased with our performance at his sister's birthday party. It always makes our performance better when the guests are having a good time and this was very much the case at this event. Norman threw a great party and we're happy to have been a part of it.
