About
From the vibrant corridors of Studio 223 in Shelbyville, KY, to the buzzing energy of live venues where every strum resonates with a story, Paulie Felice stands as a pillar in the world of guitar education and performance. As the Senior Guitar Instructor and Program Director at the SDML Academy of Guitar, and the dynamic force behind "The Paulie Guitar Show," his career is a testament to his passion for music and his commitment to nurturing musical talent.
Born in the heart of Lexington, KY, a city as rich in history as in music, Paulie's journey began with a simple yet profound love for the guitar. Over the years, his skills flourished under the tutelage of seasoned musicians, transforming him from a student of music into a master of its craft. In 2006, Paulie began to teach guitar, a venture that started with a modest group of 11 students and has since grown into a full-fledged academy nurturing hundreds of students.
At the SDML Academy of Guitar, Paulie has revolutionized guitar education through a curriculum that emphasizes the unique needs of each student. This approach ensures that every learner, whether beginner or advanced, finds the path that best suits their musical voice. Under his leadership, the academy offers a range of classes—from individual sessions to group settings, both in-person and online—catering to various levels and musical aspirations.
But teaching is just one of the chords Paulie plays so well. His live performances as "The Paulie Guitar Show" are where his creativity and spontaneity take center stage. Unique to his shows is the interactive element where the audience can request songs directly from their phones. This not only makes each show unique but also creates a personal connection with the audience, turning each performance into a collaborative event. With an extensive catalog of songs and the ability to invite attendees to sing along, Paulie transforms standard gigs into memorable musical experiences, enhanced further by his use of captivating lighting and effects.
Aside from his educational and performance roles, Paulie is also known in the music community as a "hired gun" guitarist. His expertise and versatility make him a popular choice for bands and solo artists who need a professional guitarist to elevate their live performances. Whether it's playing in duos or full bands, Paulie's adaptability and profound musical insight shine through.
Paulie's commitment to the arts extends beyond music. As the co-owner of Studio 223 with his wife, Missy, he supports a broader spectrum of artistic endeavors, from art exhibitions to language classes, making Studio 223 a cultural hub in Shelbyville. This dedication to community and arts education is a reflection of his broader view of music as a universal language that transcends barriers and binds communities.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Paulie is a connoisseur of strategy games like chess and poker, where he finds parallels to the strategic thinking required in music composition and performance. His interest in science fiction and fact fuels his creative energy, often inspiring the themes and stories in his music.
An avid sports fan, particularly of the Jacksonville Jaguars and UK Wildcats basketball, Paulie embodies the spirit of a true enthusiast. His approach to fandom, much like his music, is full of heart and dedication—a commitment to cheering on his teams, learning more about the game, and enjoying the communal excitement that sports bring.
Politically, Paulie advocates for reason and rationality, valuing informed discussion over partisan alignment. This philosophy also informs his approach to music and education—promoting a balanced, thoughtful perspective that encourages students and peers to think deeply and engage meaningfully with their craft.
Paulie Felice is not just a musician; he is a mentor, a community leader, and a visionary. His life's work is a symphony of chords strung from the heart, played for the soul, and shared with the world—one performance, one student, one community at a time.

Influences & Inspiration
The musical landscape of The Paulie Guitar Show is richly influenced by a wide range of artists and genres, reflecting a deep appreciation for the diverse tapestry of sounds that have shaped contemporary music. My playing style and musical selections are heavily inspired by the melodic expressiveness of Eric Clapton, the dynamic showmanship of Jimi Hendrix, and the rhythmic intricacy of Stevie Ray Vaughan. These legendary guitarists have not only influenced the technical aspects of my performance but also my approach to engaging with an audience.
In addition to these guitar virtuosos, my shows are also inspired by the storytelling prowess of singer-songwriters like James Taylor and the emotive power of vocalists such as Adele. Their ability to connect with listeners through both lyrics and melody deeply informs the interactive elements of my performances, where I strive to create a personal experience for each audience member.
The diversity of my musical influences allows me to cater to a broad audience, incorporating everything from classic rock to modern pop, blues to indie folk. Each performance is a new opportunity to blend these influences into a unique musical experience that celebrates the legacy of great musicians while inviting the audience to be part of the show. This eclectic mix not only ensures a wide appeal but also keeps each performance fresh and exciting.
